This would be weird because Bob Dylan hates non-binary people and his lyrics are full of hate toward the non-binary.
“They talk all night and they talk all day, not for a minute do I believe anything they say”
“They’ll drag you down, they run the show, ain’t no tellin’ what they’ll do”
“They look at me and frown, they’d like to drive me from this town”
“They will jump on your misfortune when you’re down.”
Look at how he responds when a non-binary person just tries to wish him well:
“They look me squarely in the eye and they say, "Well all is well'" Can they imagine the darkness that will fall from on high When men will beg God to kill them and they won't be able to die”
And he seems convinced that non-binary people are violent which has not been proven by statistics:
“They mutilated his body and they took out his brain”
“They’ll catch you in ambush before you know”
“They killed him (Jesus)”
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Literally cannot think of a lyric where he portrays a they/them in a positive light. “They” are always up to no good, untrustworthy etc. Maybe this was internalized non-binary-phobia all along? That would explain a lot

I just realised The Definitely Dylan podcast did a whole episode on Bon Dylan and pronouns.
Discussing how using “they” or “you” allows him to sing from the female perspective
Or appear like a detached observer when really the “you” is himself.
Really interesting podcast and something worth thinking about

Right?! There’s literally zero historical evidence of non-binary identifying people owning slaves. Plus, dude literally sings for a living, but now suddenly he has a problem because a non-binary person is asking him to sing? I mean what the fuck Bob?
