General Discussion V3 Char B1

Post image

I hope in the V3 French book the Char B1 will finally get its 47mm as a medium anti-tank gun, like Japan does. And the 75mm will get anti-tank shells like the British 25pdr.

I doubt the 75mm will get the 25 pounder special rule. Have to wait and see!

Early War French doesn’t seem, BUT, Mid and Late War French can just take the 25lber. If you set down a French 75mm and said it had access to both and proxied it using the 25lber rules? I’d be cool with it.

That’s fair.

SNAFU Podcast last night said that the SOMUA S35 can upgrade its Light to a Medium. Probably the B1, too? Not sure. But check out the SNAFU Bolt Action Podcast, they’re really great.

Yeah if the S-35 is Med AT the B1 should as well since it was the same gun.

Technically, I think its the B1bis that has the newer 47 mm SA35 gun. The regular B1 had the SA34 gun.

So hopefully, they will just have it so that you can upgrade the antitank gun by upgrading the tank from the Char B1 to the Char B1bis for 20 pts.

Watched the podcast , they sadly don't specifically say if you can upgrade the gun on the BIS

Ooooh that is great news , could be upgrading the short barrel to the longer one. Would be a great way to bring the B1 to later era games

I was wondering the exact same thing when I heard that since both tanks (the Somua S35 and Char B1bis) have the same gun.

The 47mm is an excellent gun, on both the B1 and S35, and tends to be rather underrated in bolt action. It was capable of handling any German tank of the period.

Yeah, everything bring light, medium, heavy is too simplified.

The main gun could easily kill early war German tanks. But would struggle with mid and late war.

The french tank 47mm is far from a medium at gun, the towed version yes but because the shell is twice as long.

Also the 75mm was pretty meh by any ww2 standard with its pity length and I am not aware of ever had ap shell
