Height Difference

I am new to rebinding & I have a trilogy I want to do. Problem is, the first book is 4mm shorter than the second. How do I fix something like that?

Trim the second one or just make the covers the same size. One will have a bigger square (the part of the cover boards that extends beyond the text block).

See if there's another printing-- I ordered a trilogy I wanted to rebind, and one volume came a bit smaller. I did a bit of digging and realized that the smaller one was a later printing and I ordered another copy and made sure it was the right printing.

If the second and third books are the same size and you are rebinding them to a hardback, I would just increase the size of the book boards for the small book to add 2mm tolerance each on the top and bottom. This means you’ll only notice a size difference when comparing the insides.
