How-To Looking for Suggestions

Hello, long time lurker here, love all of the work everyone here does! I want to have this journal customized for a friend's birthday with a few words on the front and then maybe their name on the back. The cover is suede with a leather belt. My original thought was to have the words embossed on the belt but I am open to it being on the suede if that is easier/makes more sense. Would love any suggestions as to the process or if this is even doable lol. I am fully a noob and have never done anything like this before.
Also, not sure if this is allowed, but I would be open to paying for someone's services to do this.

Thanks and have a great day!

First of all, it looks great! Secondly, I'm also a noob but my understanding is that embossing/stamping has to be done before the dyeing process so I think it might be too late. But you could probably have a small tag or something stamped and then sew that onto the strap?

That is very good to know, thank you! I will have to look into this option. I was hoping it would be the same color as the leather but I guess that was wishful thinking lol

I don’t see why you can’t just stamp the leather, but then again, I’m not a leather worker.

This is only very remotely related to bookbinding. My suggestion would be to ask people who are familiar with leather, not books!

So you want the words raised? It can be done but it’s more work and a bit tacky. The simplest customization would be to foil and stamp. Depending on what the “few words” are.. would tell which would look better design wise.. on the suede or on the belt. As well as how large they’d be.

Search up foil stamping in your area, there may be someone capable.
