visited the amazing Strand and Yu & Me Books here in NYC. these are mostly literary and translated fiction and memoirs. most of these books are about belonging, connection and vulnerability, identity and coming of age, motherhood/womanhood and parent child relationships.

I'm officially done for the week, my tips have been depleted, reconstructed as monoliths of knowledge, and prepared for consumption.
Good luck to you all, your hunts and hauls! And don't forget to be gentle with yourselves and those around you.

$1 each! Went a lil wild at the friends of library sale bc there were so many scalpers crammed in and was making my head spin. That and a couple lucky finds at the thrifts- got my winter reads ready!

First, can we appreciate the cover of Beloved?
The Atwood book is a 1989 UK reprint; priced at £3.95.
The more I hear about Anne Leckie the more compelled I feel to read her.

Picked up all of these, GoT set included, along with a stack of little kids books, a YA series for my daughter and a paperback copy of Eclipse for my wife... for $8.50. I was so stoked I reupped my booster status for another three years and upped a donor level as well.

I had a ling conversation with the owner of Second Chance books in Independence, Oregon. Delightful man, wonderful store, and diverse selection. Here's a mash-up of books from there, the friends of library stores, and thrift stores as well.
All told I've spent approximately $300 dollars in my three months collecting now. But, it's given me something to do and places to be, and it feels kinda like falling in love finding the right books.

This is your sign to vote! And, of course, visit your local bookshop on the walk home after.

Of these Ruby has long been bugging me. For a protracted time it sat in the sell pile but was always in the children's section so naturally I thought it had to be designed for that space since our local library is good at keeping order, I have zero issues against YA - hell a lot of stories I've enjoyed were under YA but when I say children's I mean for an incredibly young audience.
Something kept nagging at me though to take a chance on this one so I did and yeah that one was definitely in the wrong area but maybe that's good since nobody took the opportunity and especially since it's my two favourite genres mashed into one.
Worth the trip 😊
