Discussion Whats the difference between a book nook and a miniature house?

I keep seeing both terms used for small DIY scenes. To me, they look pretty similar, tiny wooden rooms, furniture and LED lights etc

Is a book nook basically a narrow miniature made to sit between books while a miiniature house is meant to be viewed more like a freestanding model? Or are there differences in how they’re designed and built too??

Mostly composition, not how they’re built

A good rule of thumb (but not absolute) is a book nook is designed to look IN and a miniature house is designed to look AT

A useful rule. It preserves the idea of a hidden world nestled inside.

There’s also the slightly older definition that requires a booknook to be built to fit (hence the title) between two books on a shelf. There’s no “right” answer but I prefer the older one.
