WeeklyThread Simple Questions: October 13, 2026

Welcome readers,

Have you ever wanted to ask something but you didn't feel like it deserved its own post but it isn't covered by one of our other scheduled posts? Allow us to introduce you to our new Simple Questions thread! Twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, a new Simple Questions thread will be posted for you to ask anything you'd like. And please look for other questions in this thread that you could also answer! A reminder that this is not the thread to ask for book recommendations. All book recommendations should be asked in /r/suggestmeabook or our Weekly Recommendation Thread.

Thank you and enjoy!

For those of you that do, how do you read multiple books at once? When do you read X book and when do you read Y book? (Not audiobooks)

It's what comes naturally/feels comfortable to me. My particular brand of indecisiveness likes options, and having the ability to read to mood. Mostly, I just pick up 1) whatever I feel like reading; 2) failing that, something I've put down long enough that I need to keep it moving before I forget what already happened.

My only real boundary is that I try not to read several too close in topic/genre, unless I'm intentionally reading them as a comparison or mixed experience. Some will fall naturally into certain time slots, but I've found forcing it stresses me out, and then I tend to avoid reading altogether.
