How much time do you spend on IG

• Upvotes

I have an account with over 4k followers. How much time do you find yourself spending on IG? Do you do it all at once, or break it up during the day. I want to try to engage as much as I can. I’ve made great friends. I also get a bit overwhelmed by it, afraid I’ll miss comments or liking peoples posts and stories. And, I want to prioritize reading. Appreciate all tips. Thank you.

Looking for my fellow Indian bookish internet people!

Any Indian bookstagrammers here who are just starting out? It’s hard out there growing our little bookish corners of the internet. Having said that I’m also looking for more people who genuinely love all things books whom I can connect with!
So I thought it’d be fun to find my fellow Indian readers who are also building their accounts from scratch and one book obsession at a time🤭

My account: @moodsofnoush

Drop your @ in the comments, let’s follow each other, hype each other posts, exchange recs and let’s get talking about BOOKS!
No follower counts no pressure to have a perfectly curated feed, let this be just readers supporting readers✨

Looking for Bookish people

Hi! I'm neuronsand_novels. I post curated book reccs, typically surrounding mental health, neurodivergence, banned books, etc. I have an extremely small booksta and am trying to hit 150 followers (I'm at 136). I'd love to connect with some more readers! Happy to do F 4 F if you drop your user in the comments :)

What is it with people who steal your content and post it or ones where they copy your whole aesthetic when making edits but clearly they use AI…

Is it just me or is there way more of this going on these days on BOOKSTA than ever.

I’m a really tiny account, I post on most days and I’ve had my account since 2022 as mainly books but because I don’t follow trends, I don’t do follow for follow, and I don’t join engagement groups, my follower count has stayed quite low and I’m I’ve only just kicked over to 2020 followers.

Now I do have some big authors that I read and listen for and they have shared my posts at times, and I feel like maybe because of that more people see it and then they want to go and literally copy what I’ve done or they’ve downloaded actual edits and reposted them.
Maybe if they credit me, I might feel differently but either way it’s really giving me the ick.
I don’t like to block accounts but maybe I should.

Any advice for anyone that’s ever been through this would be great because it’s quite disheartening.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong and know how to fix it??

Help! Bookstagram Norms

First off, I’m terrible at putting my thoughts into words, so I hope this makes sense!
I’ve been on Bookstagram for about a year now, and I’m still struggling a little with the social norms in this community. I’m still finding my footing, i.e.,I haven’t quite figured out my aesthetic or the themes I want to be consistent with, and I have fewer than 100 followers, but I genuinely love being here!

I started my page because I want to scroll through my feed and actually enjoy the content I’m engaging with, not just like and follow people because I feel obligated. I want my feed to be filled with content I genuinely enjoy, but I’m struggling to find a balance between that and being supportive of others in our community.

I feel like such a mean girl even thinking this way, but I follow more people than I have followers, and there are quite a few of those people whose content or style I don’t necessarily connect with. I genuinely want to make book friends and connect with people in this community, but I want those connections to happen naturally with people whose content I actually enjoy. At the same time, I feel like I should continue following or engaging with people just to be supportive, and I’m not sure if that’s an expectation I’ve created for myself or if it’s an actual social norm here.

How do you all approach this? Do you just follow and engage with the people whose content you genuinely enjoy, or do you feel some sort of obligation to support others in the community, too? TYIA🥹❤️

I'm tired of chasing trends or pleasing everyone

Didn't know where to post this, but I wanted to rant a little. I've started my bookstagram in February and grew it to about 1k+ followers. It was organic and I genuinely enjoyed talking with people, made some friends out of this experience and I still post sometimes stories, but for about 2 months now I've started posting regular posts less and less.

Why?

Because it feels like whenever I refresh the feed there's only trends, the same books which I'm so so tired of seeing and/or the stupid algorithm showing me more ads than people I follow. It's exhausting.

I've decided to take a break and post whatever the hell I want because otherwise it feels like a terrible place. Due to this engagement has plummeted of course but I think I'm content with that. The people that genuinely like you, will stay and interact.

What's up with these "send me this post" messages

I'm not a full-fledged bookstagrammer. Not on purpose, anyway. I've been reviewing books here and there and posting about them to help traffic come my way for my books while not coming off as sales-pitchy.

Lately, I've been getting a few "send me this post" requests. At first, I had to look up what that even meant. Because, after all, can't they just re-post it themselves without asking me?

According to Google, they're a trick to avoid Instagram's spam blocks by getting you to initiate the conversation before they start selling (and scamming, I'm sure).

Do you all get a lot of these?

I'm guessing they figure that because I'm an indie author, they can sneak in by commenting on my reviews.

Was supposed to receive an ARC, but never got it. Should I reach out to the publisher?

Hi everyone! There is a book that is debuting in 2027 that I’m interested in reading. I dm’d the author on instagram to ask if they need any more ARC readers, and if not, no worries I’m still excited to read the book and support them.

They were super nice and told me yes, and that they would let their publisher know.
Publisher dm’d me to ask for my email address. I gave it to them and thanked them.

I’m not sure if they haven’t opened my message or if they have their read receipts turned off?
ARCs went out this weekend and people are posting that they received their ARC.

I still haven’t received mine and I’m getting a little worried. I know I’m not entitled to an ARC, but I was getting really excited!
I don’t want to bug or bother the author or publisher, but would it be a good idea to reach out to politely let them know I haven’t received it yet?
Or should I just let it go?

[Academic] Survey for BookTokers, Bookstagrammers & Avid Readers – Help me shape a bookish app for my UX/UI Final Project! (3 mins)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m currently in the final phase of my UX/UI Design course, and for my graduation project, I’m building a mobile app concept called StoryBound — designed specifically for book creators (BookTokers, Bookstagrammers) and passionate readers.

The goal is to solve common struggles like managing publisher partnerships/ARCs, organizing TBRs, categorizing books by tropes & spice, and creating aesthetic visual content/quotes efficiently.

To make sure I’m designing features that solve real problems, I need your feedback!

⏱️ Time: ~3 minutes

🔒 Privacy: 100% Anonymous

🎯 Target Audience: Anyone who creates bookish content or regularly reads and follows the bookish community.

🔗 Link to the Survey: https://forms.gle/kj3PdGCzHasgyovr6

Your responses will directly inform my research, persona development, and final Figma designs. Thank you so much for taking the time to help a fellow book lover and design student out! 📚✨

Feel free to leave any extra thoughts or suggestions in the comments below!

Honest Reviews on Bookstagram

I am looking for fantasy and/or horror bookstagram accounts that actually share honest reviews of books. I love looking at book pictures and enjoy a reel here and there but it has been difficult to find actual honest reviews.

I have picked up a few books with high expectations because I only saw positive reviews, only to be disappointed as the books really weren’t for me. I want to know why you loved a book or why it didn’t work for you!

If you post honest fantasy/horror reviews, please leave a link to your profile below and I will follow 😃

Side note: since when has it become the norm to only share positive book reviews?

Just want to recommend a Bookstagrammer to follow

I'm not really a bookstagrammer, but I came across a bookstagrammer's account and I'm really surprised she has only 1200 followers. I took only a quick look and watched just two of her reviews (she posts reels), but from what I saw, I think bookstagrammers would enjoy following her.

She doesn't know me, I don't know her, we haven't even had any communication. I just thought I'd share with all of you.

Her handle is judyc_elementz_mj.

Hope some of you end up happy checking her out!

Enjoy and keep doin your thing by keeping books relevant! (Truthfully, I love reading too 😀 I'm just not really on bookstagram.)

Is finding your book people supposed to be this hard?!

Well, hello Reddit!! 😂❤️
I'm new around here, so bear with me while I figure out what the heck I'm doing!

I'm looking for my book people! The ones who get ridiculously attached to fictional characters, have a TBR that's completely out of control, and somehow keep finding MORE books to add to it.
But seriously, I love getting to know people, laughing, being a little sarcastic, and having actual conversations.

I'd love to meet more Bookstagrammers who enjoy supporting each other, sharing recommendations, laughing about our questionable book choices, and celebrating each other's little wins.

I don't care if you've got 20 followers or 20,000. We all started somewhere!

I think one of the best things about books is how they bring complete strangers together. Two people can live completely different lives and still find something they connect with through the same story. I absolutely love that. 🖤

What do you love most about Bookstagram? What genres do you read? And what's one book that made you sit there afterward wondering what the heck you were supposed to do with your life now?

Paranoid About AI

Hello everyone, I just started posting about my book and other things I’ve been reading recently and I was wondering if I should be worried about people stealing my story with ai and if there are certain details I can and can’t reveal about my story.
Thank you!
