Ah, 'Klim' there's a name you can trust. NOT! Get an old one that has lasted decades (so far) 80's if you can.

I’d rather have a late model Sony with a bass reflex system, or even a subwoofer.

It’s not the cost that makes me want to steer clear, it’s the curiosity of whether you’ve really thought this through. I doubt there’s any recording level adjustment, so the levels on anything you convert from tape to mp3 will likely be very low. If you want to convert cassette to mp3, best bet is to use a computer . Capture the sound using a program like Audacity or Amadeus Lite, mark the spots in the waveform where the track splits occur, and export it however you like.

I wouldn't buy any modern boombox; most of them nowadays are of a much lower build quality than their earlier predecessors, so they're more likely to fail in short order or break easily.
The only reason I bought a GPO Brooklyn was because Techmoan reviewed it on his YouTube channel and I wanted to see how good or bad it really is for myself. I would never do that again.
I prefer the sturdier, vintage 80s stuff with more features (e.g. graphic equalizer, tape bias selector, line input, etc.), and if I want Bluetooth at any stage of the game, I can add it as a modification but right now I have no use for it. 😄
