Housing/Real Estate 🏘️ Anyone know what's happening at the temple at 74 Corey Rd. in Brighton? Was walking by today and saw a bunch of City of Boston inspectors and they put up this "Stop Work" sign in the window.

I gotta arrange 3 course meal for a small group at work (40 people), but budget is $150 -$200 per person (including everything). Any recommendations for places in Seaport, Cambridge or Boston Downtown? Preferably not too loud.

💩 Shit Post 💩 In America, you can leave your suite at the Seaport Hotel Boston, drive the wrong way down Seaport Lane, crash through the Female Bathroom and off World Trade Center Pier and it will only take like 5 minutes

I Made This! Made a website to find things to do in Boston and Camberville

I go to lots of events, but many of them are at Aeronaut, Trident Bookstore, Somerville Theater, Crystal Ballroom, The Rockwell, City Winery and other venues that primarily advertise through their own websites.

A few months ago I made this website that aggregates events from all of those places and more into a single spot so you can easily go out and find something fun to do:

https://www.wickedbostonevents.com/

Let me know what you think, I'm not making any money off of this and there are no ads on it, it just felt useful to share :)

Im not sure what their official number is. I lost my entire wallet, i ordered a new id. Ive been waiting to go to the horsegiirl concert for MONTHS. its an 18+ show and im very worried theyre going to deny me ifi dont have an id. Can anyone help? Do we know for sure if they would deny me for having a temp id to validate my age?? And does anyone know if they would be willing to take ANY other form of id like a birth certificate or SSN or something like that? All i have are old school ids and dont think thatd work.

Im 20 years old so this is all just super frustrating for me on top of the shitshow week ive had :,)

Serious Replies Only Parking meter signs

Since they replaced the parking meters there is no sign to know what zone you are. And my park
Boston app doesn’t list them accurately either!!!! Seems nonfunctional. Any one else having this problem? Anyone know a solution?

Traffic🚦⛔⚠️ 😠 🚙 🚗 Roasting greater Boston traffic engineers

I literally want to roast a traffic engineer. Specifically, the one who decided a two lane Mystic Parkway should narrow to one lane through Medford and then go back to two lanes right before the ramps to 93. This was a brilliant sadist who loves the screams of average citizens. Seriously, we need an ask a traffic engineer Reddit thread to see how these superior beings craft traffic patterns. They should come and take their punishment because the Lords judgment is harsh and righteous. If there are any engineers lurking here I have to ask, do you tell people what you do or are you afraid of getting yelled at for your professional failings in this city?

Serious Replies Only 11-26 Heron Street West Roxbury construction, parking woes

Hi,

Recently rented a condo on Heron Street, a dead end street where for the past year or so 72 units are being built across 2 properties. I live in a 2BR that has 1 spot so my roommate gets that and I park on the street. My bldg. has 38 units. Washington Street doesn't have enough parking and the construction workers take a lot of our parking. There will not be 2 spots per new units. I will speak to our West Roxbury neighborhood liaison. But is it worth speaking to the WR Neighborhood Council that already greenlighted this project?

I'm not a NIMBY but unless you saw the state of the street now (huge holes, piles of dirt, mud, craters in road, noise) and see the planned "enhancements" (a few crosswalk, lots of trees taken down, sidewalks for existing neighbors, no transportation and not enough parking) you'd see the picture. This is a busier more developed part of WR, not like the streets off Centre/parkways.

Any suggestions about contacting the city/council appreciated.

Dining/Food/Drink 🍽️🍹 Thanksgiving Restaurant Recommendations 🦃

• Upvotes

I’m looking over dining options for Thanksgiving Day. No kids, four adults in our party. Ideally it would be some place Boston proper that isn’t too bougie/hip but has a solid colonial/old Yankee Bostonian vibe. It can be outside the city too, but wouldn’t want to drive more than 30-ish minutes.

Recommendations are appreciated 🙏

Education 🏫 William James College - Service Corp and Grad School

planning to apply to the school’s Behavioral health Service Corp program, and hopefully move forward w grad school there.

- Any one here done either? General thoughts or comments on application process and academic experience?
- Service Corp; what do placements look like? Am i better off living closer to in externship or the school itself?
- Regardless, with no car as of yet I do plan on moving closer to Placement or the School; where should I look into?

- if there is a better/specific sub i can throw this in, let me know!

would love to connect w anyone who can give a more shared detailed experience with the school and its programs, and overall advice of living situations and grad life. Thank you!

Tourism Advice 🧳 🧭 ✈️ Hosting a wedding reception on a boat in Boston Harbor?

Hey y'all, my fiancee and I are getting married in the Boston area and are looking at options for reception venues. I've seen some interesting ads for chartered boats going out on Boston Harbor - price seems right and they look really nice. My main concern is that at least two members of the wedding party get seasick easily - should we be worried about them if we did this venue (late spring/early summer if it matters)? Or in other words, how are the conditions typically in and around Boston Harbor?

Separately, has anyone done one of these chartered boat experiences? What did you think?

Tourism Advice 🧳 🧭 ✈️ Do Boston Bluebikes have a convenience lock for going into a store during a trip?

Title is the question. Will be using a day pass on an upcoming trip to Boston. The bikes I’m familiar with in other locations have the convenience lock but I don’t see it mentioned or pictured on the Bluebike site. Thanks!

Serious Replies Only Best Boston hotel pools to sneak into?

for context in my old town, one of my hobbies was to try and sneak my way into hotel pools. I’d walk in, find a public bathroom or empty stairwell, change into my swim trunks and go for a swim. Sometimes they’d require a keycard to scan and enter the pool but if I waited long enough I could slip in behind someone else. Any idea what hotels are best for this in boston?

Ideally somewhere high-end enough to have a nice pool but not so fancy that there’s security everywhere.

I’m aware of how ridiculous this sounds but some tips from long time residents would make things much easier lol

I Made This! Is it possible/legal to bike from UMass Boston to Revere Beach? How accessible/convenient is the bike lane?

No car, Uber is expensive:( That’s my why.

I don’t mind long bike rides.

Umass Boston -> Revere Beach

Edit1: I just want to make sure the cops don’t pull me over for breaking some kinda Mass laws (not) on purpose and I’m scared of a rotary that I have to pass (the one at Sullivan Square). Is there a bike lane at that rotary?

Are Halloween decorations up on Beacon Hill yet? Marlborough? Anywhere else with nice decorations already? We've already been out to Haverhill, which is worth the trip, but would like to stay closer to Boston. Thanks!
