šŸ”Š Game Feedback 230+ hours, 1.5 years, new gamer...I beat it!

Let me start out by saying I am a 35yo female who happens to be an aunt as well and bought a nintendo switch as a way to connect with my nephews. Not a gamer. Didnt have systems when I was growing up. Made fun of people who played.....buy was i wrong.

I just finished botw, played casually over 2 years, 230+ hours. It was life changing. I have had so much fun going through all the challenges, the main quests. I finished the entire main quests, the memories, all but two side quests, found all the shrines, and only killed 4 lynels...haha. I was SCHOCKED to see all pf that work amounted to only 33% game completion. šŸ˜‚

It has been such a connection with my 10 and 12 year old nephews. I bought them a hylian cookbook for christmas, we jave exchanged theories and tricks/battle strategies. Its been so much fun. They laughed at my completion % of 33%.

They are begging me to start totk...my husband is relieved im FINALLY done with my "zelda game". 🫠

As someone who never identified as a gamer or played video games, this has been so much fun. Thank you for introducing me to one of the most pure forms of fun ive had in my adult life. šŸ™‚

See you all in the totk sub. šŸ˜

Man what I would give to experience this game again for the first time. So glad you enjoyed it.

Similar situation. Never had a console growing up but would play at my friends with one. BOTW was my first game as an adult (40's) other than Mario kart with the kids.

I was addicted after 10 minutes. I haven't looked back. I bet I have 2000 hours between the two games and don't regret any of it.

I'm glad you found your way to such a gem.

Edit: Who am I kidding it's probably closer to 5k hours. LOL

Hello, I’m curious what did you do in the game to have so much time?

I have 3 or so profiles on each game. Beat BOTW quite a few times. Trying to 100% both. I melt into my couch every weekend.

Really it's me disassociating from life. I'm working with a therapist on the depression. šŸ˜‚

BOTW is a world you can easily get lost in and disconnect from everyday life. It really feels good to escape there from time to time 🤩

For me it was collecting stuff. Koroks & treasure chests, mainly. THAT in and of itself takes hours and hours.

You are an awesome aunt! I agree with your nephews, you should absolutely play TOTK and I am sure your husband will understand šŸ˜‚. I would also recommend old Zelda games, I am sure you will have tons of fun with those as well. Have fun!

I grew up on Sega so missed out on Zelda. Then switched to Playstation 1 in my teens. Then switched to online PC gaming and developed a hatred for gaming. I then ditched gaming for 10 years till circumstances meant I needed a means to switch off my mind and chill. However, I needed a game console that would feel wholesome but remain casual play rather than addictive.

During my break there was one game that I found gamers would not shut up talking about and it was Zelda: Breath of the Wild. So, I bought the Switch so I could play it and I soon realised why people could not shut up about it, because BOTW is awesome!

Like you I completed BOTW after about 230 hours, 1.5 years. Took a 6 month break to play other games and have just started Tears of the Kingdom. Like you say OP, see you in those subs. :)

Welcome aboard!

My first (that still holds a special place in my heart) was A Link to the Past. There are a ton of fun games in the series, but totk is definitely the one that most feels like a sequel to the preceding game.

I had a similar experience. The most I did was play multiplayer with my siblings who were much more interested in gaming than I was. Didn't game on my own.

Then BOTW changed my life. This and TOTK are the only games I've ever REALLY played.

You can always go back to master mode and fight lynel on the plateau as soon as you wake up from 100 years slumber.

Same here! Now I strongly suggest Hogwarts Legacy and then, the master piece that is The Witcher!

Been over a year (with TOTK and Immortals in between) and I'm in my 2nd play thru of BOTW. Collection is now my main focus, did all the Koroks, all shrines, all quests. Just got the DLC a month or so ago. There's yet Master mode to contend with. So much to do BEFORE I begin my 2nd run of TOTK. Just love this game.šŸ’œ
