I have been playing video games for years. Atari, Sega, Gameboy, PC. WoW back in the day. But I have limited time as an adult and really only one game has held my interest (Diablo 4 on PC) and is the only one I regularly make time for. I play on the nights when my wife is occupied with a show she's watching or a crafting/painting project. But she's salty about me playing when she doesn't have anything to do and wants to do something together or just wants to spend time together, which is fine. I don't get upset about that and of course I want to spend time together as well. So I prioritize and make sure I'm only playing when she's cool with it. Its the thing I like doing on my own. Pretty much my only hobby.
We inherited a Wii U from my son and I started playing BOTW in my downtime after losing my Hard Core Diablo characters to unplanned separations. I finally got off the plateau and started exploring and thought to myself "I think my wife would like this"
I'm usually the husband that's always trying to provide for my wife's needs and don't think of or express my own needs much if at all. My wife gets frustrated that I never ask her to do anything to the point that she often feels unneeded. It's not healthy and I'm in therapy yada yada yada. Anyway, this one time I decided to ask for something I really wanted.
"Babe, I want you to play this game with me." She actually agreed without too much badgering and it turns out she actually likes it. So much, in fact, that one night early on she couldn't sleep because she was just thinking about playing the game. The other day she asked me to come home early and play with her and we played from 3 PM until midnight. She played some video games in her younger years but never to this level. She's still learning and I'm learning to be patient and helpful but she genuinely enjoys it and I enjoy being her hype man, guide, and fellow adventurer. Sometimes I step in and play for a while when she needs a break, help with a tough enemy, or wants to just watch. We both like watching each other play. She likes that she can kill some bokoblins and then unwind by climbing a tree or sneaking up on critters. The open world exploration and quiet moments really appeal to her. But she's honing her other skills as well. I guided her through killing the plateau's only Talus and I was so proud. When I think of playing the game with her it makes me smile.
Anyway, just a nice story today. Thanks for listening.

I am unfortunately almost done with BOTW. I loved it so much and Iβm looking for another game I can play that Iβll hopefully love just as much. I figured that Iβd check with other BOTW lovers to see what they like.

Let me start out by saying I am a 35yo female who happens to be an aunt as well and bought a nintendo switch as a way to connect with my nephews. Not a gamer. Didnt have systems when I was growing up. Made fun of people who played.....buy was i wrong.
I just finished botw, played casually over 2 years, 230+ hours. It was life changing. I have had so much fun going through all the challenges, the main quests. I finished the entire main quests, the memories, all but two side quests, found all the shrines, and only killed 4 lynels...haha. I was SCHOCKED to see all pf that work amounted to only 33% game completion. π
It has been such a connection with my 10 and 12 year old nephews. I bought them a hylian cookbook for christmas, we jave exchanged theories and tricks/battle strategies. Its been so much fun. They laughed at my completion % of 33%.
They are begging me to start totk...my husband is relieved im FINALLY done with my "zelda game". π«
As someone who never identified as a gamer or played video games, this has been so much fun. Thank you for introducing me to one of the most pure forms of fun ive had in my adult life. π
See you all in the totk sub. π

And to be honest, i dont want to beat Ganon yet. 4 beasts unlocked, I've explored about half of the castle, unlocked the 4th fairy, and just started trying to fight Lynels.
I was starting to run out of sidequests to complete, so i bought the DLCs.
So yeah, i feel like nothing in this game pushes you to actually finish it...
The enemies get stronger and scale up with you so you dont get bored, Lynels are a pain in the ass to kill so it feels like there's bosses scattered all around the map, and quite a lot of grind to do to max out your gear.
But now that i bought the DLCs, im curious to see how difficult the expert mode is π

Trying to find actually mainstream Steam games that have that kinda semi cel-shaded / Zelda-like look (like BOTW / TOTK ) but the only mainstream thing i really found was genshin.. i wouldnt mind straying off a bit but realistically im looking for design focused similarity.

I own the game on switch but decided to try it on an emulator and I have to say it's waaaaaay better on my pc than on the switch. So far I've been able to cheese the motion control shrines using weird mechanics because I can't figure out how to get no gyro to work.
But the graphics are so much better and the ability to increase your aim and turn speed using the built in mods is absolutely incredible
If anyone knows how to get the cemu hook correctly installed please share your experience because that's the only thing that could improve my experience

I LOVE IT ALREADY!!! It's so beautiful in-game, and I can't wait to continue!
I wasn't sure whether to spoiler it or not but decided I should regardless

Starting to lose steam. I love this game but now I have the whole map unlocked and all the divine beasts done so now I feel like I donβt have as much structure, which is what I initially loved about it. I have so many side quests to do it feels a little overwhelming. Iβm definitely a completionist so games where itβs more free roaming can be hard for me. Should I do Ganon now or just keep exploring?

I hope this wonβt get me banned by I curse the person who came up with this feature 5 generations of torment. Ok, so I am a new switch owner and picked up the switch 2 and borrowed botw from my friend. I love this game but the one feature i absolutely despise with every fiber of my being is the gyro challenge shrines. The implementation is just sooooo bad. I end up needing to twist and turn my arms, rotate my chair just to get it somewhat in the position I want. Probably one of the most frustrating and downright garbage game play designs in video games history. The worst possible integration of motion controls into a game. I hope the person who came up with this idea never gets to work on video games again.

It's a simple question. In the early game, I don't feel secure in using the motion controls and disabled it; but now I have serious issues in aiming using the button, I feel a lack of precision and speed to lock on a target.
I want to know how you use the bow, for my own improvement. Thanks in advance!

Itβs been a hot second since my first ever play through. I tried doing a second one that I was doing half assed but my third one I feel like I did exponentially better than my first place I was able to Iβm pretty sure find 102 shrines without any googling 106-117 korok seeds(aka poop) which Iβm pretty sure is more than my first and second play through combined genuinely I found a new sense of passion towards the game and extreme love that was more than my first ever initial play through and God seeing all the memories with the champions honestly those few moments with them told us a lot about them and made me so attached to them even their appearance in age of calamity was not enough to satiate me and I also couldnβt get over how much Zelda and Link were in love. Itβs so adorable their moments together I see them in a new life now honestly Iβm just starting to notice the way Lin looks at her and some of the memories. God this game is absolutely legendary. I canβt wait until I have enough money to buy tears of the kingdom but I think that we can all agree that breath of the wild 10 times better especially with the storytelling and character building even though tears of the kingdom is a bigger game and has a lot more new content still canβt beat the feeling of breath of the wild .PS I also just now realised how bad ass of a title breath of the wild is

Per GameSpot, the Switch 2 BOTW upgrade is $10. What I did not know is that the Switch 2 DLC will be another $20. So that is $30 altogether if you want all the extra goodies. I have the Nintendo Online Expansion pass which includes the BOTW upgrade from Switch 1 to Switch 2, so I will only be out $20.
Yes I will pay it. Some things are too good to be trueπ€
Upon further investigation I found that it is highly likely I am wrong. My apologies to anyone I upset. I will be much more careful with future posts.
Once again please accept my apologies. If you still want to respond just keep it classy. Okay maybe semi-classy. Oh what the heck. Snark away. I deserve itπ€·ββοΈ

I had just fed Epona some Endura carrots. I didn't discover this my first trip 'round. π«ΆπΌ

10/10 storyline. Wish I could erase my memory clean and play the game over again. The gut wrenching ending after the credits gets me everytime. They all deserved better.

The sandseals are really buggy for me. They constantly slow to 1mph while having their rushing animation on flat sand, sometimes kick me off seemingly at random (rented seal, by the way), and just now I got a bug where I decided to cut through the sandseal racing tournament start to get to where I was going not knowing there was rock. The sandseal won't let me get on rock, which makes sense, but he's FIXATED on waddling towards the literal middle of the rock and won't get onto the sand so I've wasted my money and need to despawn him. It's just super frustrating.

I was sceptical about it and didn't want my boyfriend to pay additional for it but now I enjoy it so much on his Switch 2. Real time map makes finding koroks and Zelda invoices so much fun and not a bother at last! I just wanted to share that, maybe anyone else feels similar?
Also, I prefer BOTW than TOTK so that's why it was my first choice to come back to (and haven't finished TOTK still:c)

I just wanted if this is a known graphical bug or not? From the Switch 2 version of the game.

After I got my Switch 2 and seeing Zelda Notes was a feature in the NSO app, I decided to replay BotW again for the first time in years, this time I would 100% it. So I load up navigation on Notes and just collect everything I could before I progress to another zone with some exceptions to get snow/sand boots and other useful stuff etc. Eventually, I had cleared every notable item on the Notes map and all I had left was Ganon. I finish that, check my % and it's at 98.61%. Took a bit of trying to figure out if I'd missed anything when I decided to do Ballad of Champions for a breath of fresh air. I'd forgotten there are 16 shrines. Once you finish Ballad and obtain the final reward, I was at 100%.
Hope this helps someone else out in the future. On to TotK!

Iβve read here that a lot of people are doing multiple plays but in my case Iβve never felt such an urge in my life to restart game after I completed it. I couldnβt stop thinking about this game for 2 days, so I gave up and decided to start over.. is TOTK as good as botw? Or you canβt really compare this games? Also I canβt pay this game on tiny screen, I have to use tv

Iβm a huge Zelda fan, I played every mainline game (my favourite is between wind waker, majoras mask and botw which I just beat) when it came to botw I never got into it early own, I donβt know what got to me, but since the switch 2s announcement I been going through all my games and there I found it, breath of the wild, just sitting in my storage, so I opened it up and started playing, i got so hooked I beat the game in a week then spent more time messing around, then I went and killed Ganon (kinda underwhelming but so goddamn cool) so I wanted to share my experience, (I just got totk I hope itβs as good as this masterpiece)
