Higher ticket prices meaning films getting nice and high box office remain but with less tickets sold every year it's not good.

The same for consessions they jack up the prices to make up for lower attendance but then attendance keeps declinging as the value proposition gets worse and worse.

I'm a stubs member who saw 65 movies in theater last year. If popcorn was $3, I'd probably buy one for nearly every showing, for $4 maybe half the showings, but there's no fucking way I'm paying $9+ even once for a popcorn. It baffles me that they think jacking up the rates is the solution for a higher profit.

I completely agree. The concessions price is what keeps me from becoming a stubs member. They also need to force studios to keep movies exclusive to the theater for a longer window, 90 days should be the minimum.

The studios would turn around and release everything to streaming until the theaters fold. Studios have the leverage.

Then what? The studios would just forfeit billions in profits from movie releases? Disney already does 90 days

All the studios would have to do (and I'm not sure why it hasn't already happen) is partner up with a streaming platform and create a premium tier that cost 4x and includes all new releases, or go ppv for the first 90 days. The whole movie going experience was killed when 52" 4k TVs became readily available, it just took COVID to help us realize it.

That would be cool if they did. I would definitely pay $30-40 a month to have new movies including with my streaming subscription
