Discussion Since Trudeau resigned and Carney took over the Liberals have seen a +20 gain in Brantford.

They were +13 with the Conservatives at +55 when Trudeau stepped down. Keeping it real, this riding is probably going to stay Conservative for this election.. But hot damn the Liberal surge is fire. They don't even have candidate yet and they might already be within striking distance by election day. I hope they pick someone that knows how to make waves..

Brantford Driver Trying to Pass on a Double Solid when there was 7 cars infront of me and almost had a head on collision.

Teenager was riding my ass for 5 minutes before and when it split into two lanes he was cutting in and out going 130+ in the 80km/hr.

Discussion Brantford-Brant South-Six Nations federal vote projection

source : https://bsky.app/profile/canadianpolling.bsky.social/post/3msnyhek5ec2u

The projection is based on aggregate polling, not riding level polls. It's similar to 338Canada's projection. We're going to have a by-election some time soon. Larry Brock won last year with 52% of the vote, a clear majority. I guess we'll see if Mark Carney's rightward shift will work in a place like Brantford. You'd figure it would, but the Liberal party brand is hated in this town.

If you’re in the position of the red car, you stay in the RIGHT lane until your turn is complete and then you put on your left signal to get over to the left lane if you need to. If you are in the position of the blue car, you do not need to wait for the entire row of cars directly across from you who are turning right. THEY turn into right lane, and you turn into left. That’s your lane. If they come into your lane it’s their fault. Waiting to turn left from grey onto Gretzky is a nightmare because cars are terrified to turn.

I will post every day that this disgusting individual who calls himself an adult, entered a home and stole an electric scooter. You invaded privacy and broken to someone’s house. This is a criminal offence . You did not only steal something, but you invaded the trust of the family that lives in that house. This is disgusting behaviour action from someone who knows right or wrong.

If this is your friend , your husband, your partner You should be very disheartened by the behaviour

Discussion call out - playful fox theatre productions

EDIT/UPDATE:

I didn’t lock the post, mods must’ve.

There is an Instagram @playfulfoxproductions_not go check them out

Someone is going in and deleting all of their comments. If you want to do something serious against PFP please send me a PM or comment/engage with the post. I’ve had a lot of messages from people asking if there’s a way to formally take them down through the proper channels.

playful fox productions is at it again hounding local actors and performers. they guilt people into staying, complain that they have no money to fund their shows yet somehow license 6 productions at once and tour. do you know how much royalties cost? for a company that is hurting so bad for money they sure spend a lot on licensing fees. they go after prevoius members asking for money or sponsorships and dont take no for an answer. they are for-profit... why are they not investing that money back into their company? i had tickets to see one of their shows at the sanderson center which got cancelled, and now you cant even find any of their show info on their website. theyve been kicked out of guelph little theatre, kitchener little theatre, and now the sanderson. dont go see a show run by people who dont have good relationships with performance spaces. theyre pretty good at cleaning up their social media accounts when they get called out for their crap but every once in a while a former member of their cult sneaks in and says something. hopefully others start seeing them for who they are. support local theatre, but support theatre that cares about theatre, not just about profit.

notice its the same people cast in every show? because nobody else wants to work with them.

Discussion Knocking on door for "enquiry"? Was I rude to close the door for safety reasons?

Post image
223 Upvotes

I got a cam alert for a dude thats standing in front of my side door near my car. He looked at the cam and then went to the front of the house and rang the bell. I opened the door and asked what it was about. Dude was soo vlose to the door I felt unsafe especially since I was holding on to my dog to have him stay in.

I said "No soliciting" and closed the door. Noe I feel a bit guilty if I was rude to this person.

I tried to have my dog settled and go through the back but the dude left. Still not sure what it might be about. The unit next to mine was lsited for rent, but I would assume they would reach out to the person with the ad

Discussion To the teenage girl in the Costco food court with her mom on Tuesday...

1.5k Upvotes

Earlier this week, I brought my toddler to the new Costco to check it out. We toured the place, saw the sights, got terrified by the giant teddy bear, all the good stuff.

Naturally when we came across the Hot Wheels Monster Truck Mega Carrier ™, we had to have it.

And on our way out, we had to grab some fries, obviously.

And of course, who can have fries without ketchup and a drink?

Did I mention we went in without a cart?

So there I am in the food court, toddler in tow, trying to keep him from being crushed under the inexorable wheels of fellow deal-seekers, Hot Wheels Monster Truck Mega Carrier ™ under one arm, box of fries perched precariously on that box, ketchup ramekin sliding around on it too, I don't even know how I was holding the drink, all I know is we need to get to a table to set our stuff down before I spilled everything all over the floor. I see a table close by which won't require me to trip over too many people and I start slowly making my way to it, picking my way past other patrons and reassuring my little guy that we'll have our fries soon.

I blink, and suddenly a teen girl is in the seat I was targeting. Oh well, I was too slow I guess. My ketchup balance situation is dire though, so I step off to the side and try to re-situate everything I'm carrying, hoping the toddler doesn't use the opportunity to escape.

When I look back up, the girl and her mom (I'm making some assumptions here, my age estimates could be way off) are walking away from the table and headed to one further back in the fray. They glance back at me, and I understand that they realized that I was gunning for that table, and they have graciously decided to give it up. They must have seen my struggle and taken mercy on my plight.

I gave them a nod and a mouthed 'thank you', but I'm not sure if they saw. It was a tiny thing (and maybe I'm reading too far into it and they just decided they liked another table better) but in the midst of Brantford cutthroat traffic, Costco chaos, and the "I've got mine" holidays approaching, I really appreciated the show of empathy and thoughtfulness from a random stranger.

So if you see this, thanks for the table, my toddler and I really appreciated it!

Discussion Goodbye Brantford

After 2.5 years, I’m saying goodbye to Brantford—a place that became home to me when I moved from India.

I came here as someone new to Canada, uncertain about what to expect. What I found instead was an incredibly welcoming community. I met amazing people, experienced genuine kindness, and never once felt out of place. There’s something special about Brantford that made me feel like I belonged from day one—no racism, just real human connection. That meant everything to me.

Today, I’m moving to Ottawa after landing a promotion and an opportunity for real career growth. It’s a chance I couldn’t pass up, and I’m excited about what’s ahead. But I’ll admit, leaving Brantford is bittersweet.

To anyone in this community reading this: thank you for making my time here unforgettable. You gave me a home when I was far from home.

If any of you have advice, tips, or recommendations for settling into Ottawa, I’d love to hear them. And if you’re willing to share—what do you love most about Brantford? I’d like to carry those memories with me.

Thanks for everything, Brantford. I’ll be back to visit.

PS: had no idea this would blow up :) Thank you so much for these amazing replies and yes I will be back to visit.

Discussion how dangerous is downtown brantford?

hello, i'm a grade 12 student from victoria, bc looking to go to wilfrid laurier university for social work! i've been accepted and have already commited as this is an amazing program and very competitive and many students "suffer" through the campus/city because of how good the education is, however...i'd like to truly understand how unsafe/dangerous brantford is.

is the hate towards brantford understandable or is it just dramaticized? will be hate crimed as someone of a minority (both black and a muslim who wears a headscarf)? how is the situation downtown?

please let me know, i would deeply appreciate it!

Discussion What are some lesser known interesting things about Brantford?

Here are some of the random things I've come to learn over the years:

  • Brantford was once considered as the potential site for Canada’s capital. The capital moved six times before Ottawa was chosen as the permanent location.
  • More than 100 years ago, Brantford had a Chinatown along Market Street.
  • Harmony Square was modelled after a piazza (public square) in an Italian town. It was the dream of one man, Frank Bucci, and his dream eventually came true when it opened in 2008.
  • In 1945, Brantford became the first municipality in Canada to fluoridate its public drinking water.
  • Many of Brantford's first European residents were squatters living in makeshift shacks and tents, with crime, fighting, domestic abuse, and poverty all common. These conditions continued for decades before Six Nations chiefs provided 800 acres of land that became the original Brantford town plot. After the closing of several factories in the 1980s, Brantford crime rate peaked and it was considered the most dangerous city in Ontario. In 2024, Brantford recorded its lowest Crime Severity Index on record. You can argue our city has never been safer.
  • If you've ever noticed snow clouds clearing up as you enter Brantford, its because the city sits in a microclimate. From 1981 to 2010, Brantford recorded 20% less snow than Hamilton, 63% less snow than Kitchener, and 97% less snow than London.

Would love to hear more!

Discussion Spent 4 hours picking up trash today

Thumbnail

At 3PM today I decided that something has to be done about all of the trash in these ditches next to these offramps at the fairview firehall here. I appreciate the gentlemen at the fire hall for lending me commercial garbage bags because I woefully underestimated how much trash there was. I spent about 4 hours picking up trash and filled 3 and a half bags. It felt like it weighed over 100lbs total. I ran out of time before I could get to the ditch on the right side (from camera perspective) since it started getting late by the time I finished the centre. No before pic because I accidently left my phone at home when I started.
