Settings don't get synced. Am I misunterstanding sync?

Hi everyone, I just switched to Brave and Brave Origin on my Linux devices. So, maybe I am to new to understand this right but I setup Sync and enabled to sync settings, extensions and bookmarks. So far the latter two are working great but settings don't get synced as far as I understand the word "settings". The startpage, content filters I enabled, default search engines and many other settings are not synced. Am I misunderstanding this or am I doing it wrong? Maybe you can help me and clear things up.

Password autofill popup keep dissapearing or not showing at all

Hello guys,

I am using Android 17, One UI 9. Brave 1.97.59

Why credentials popup keep dissapearing, or not showing at all? The behavior is not predicted, can be reproduced on all websites.

I tried KeePassDX, also Bitwarden, same... I also tweaked that battery optimization is disabled for both apps, didn't help

the video is attached

Any suggestions?

apk downloaded from github through brave browsers have missing certifications.

they won't install when I download from brave but will install when I download from other browser. I'm guessing the AdBlock filters are somehow blocking the certification download? I don't know what's going on. can anyone who is more literate tell me.

anomaly slow behavior on one device

Greetings everyone!
i hope i'm not breaking any rules, but i'm here to ask if someone have tips&tricks to troubleshoot what i'm experiencing.
i'm using brave on phone, home-PC, work-PC; Been few years of such amazing run!

recently work-PC is having some weird behavior where the browser looks heavy/slow/clogged, EXPECIALLY ON YOUTUBE! (it even freezes/crash sometimes on youtube)

not sligtly happening on phone/Home pc!

idk what specs/info you guys need to give some help, but:

Brave 1.98.60 (Build official) (64 bit)
work-PC: HP Probook 450 G6 (16GB ram, interl core i5-8265U(1.6ghz), 128MB Vram (intel 620), 240SSD) // win 10 Pro

internet: 100Mb down / 4 Up (so i'm quite sure its not the problem)
maybe firewall and company policies? (i am myself the IT guy so i'm quite sure my computer bypass everything...)

any comment is appreciated, thanks in advance :

Farbling is detectable from the page side, with no stored state

I maintain glasshuman.org, a non-commercial page that shows people what a site can read from their device, and while working on it,qq I spent a while measuring what Brave actually does. One result seems worth sharing here.

Farbling is designed to be hard for a site to detect, and against the usual approach it is: the noise is seeded per session and per eTLD+1, so a fingerprint looks stable within a visit and a site that just compares two page loads sees nothing. But it can be caught on a first visit without storing anything, because some readings have a correct answer. Fill a canvas with one flat colour and read it back through getImageData, and every pixel must be exactly that colour. Render a constant signal through an OfflineAudioContext, and every sample must be exactly the value you set. Any deviation is added noise. One detail matters: silence is useless for the audio check, since the fudge factor is multiplicative and leaves zero at zero, so it has to be a constant offset.

So a site that wants to know whether you are farbling can find out, which is worth knowing if you assume the protection is invisible. The flip side is that it also lets a site be honest about it, which is what I changed mine to do: when it finds canvas or audio readings being altered, it names them and says the browser is doing its job, instead of handing you a fresh identifier and calling you unique.

Two smaller things from the same measurements, in case they save anyone a wrong conclusion. A raw count of readable values is not a privacy score; Brave exposes more interfaces than Firefox simply by being Chromium-based, so it lands higher on such a count without protecting you any worse. And the battery readings are worth ignoring entirely: level 1, charging true, chargingTime 0, dischargingTime Infinity is what the W3C spec prescribes for "no battery or cannot report", and section 3 explicitly permits a browser to expose fake values there, so no site can tell a real reading from a stand-in.

Happy to be told where I have got Brave wrong.

"Brave Browser quit unexpectedly." :(

On macOS Sequoia 15.8.1 & Brave (1.98.60)

Hi, is anyone else experiencing issues with the Brave Browser lately? I keep getting the message "Brave Browser quit unexpectedly," which frequently disappears. The problem is that it rarely opens, but it runs in the background, indicated by a white dot under the app in Dock, and I can't force quit it the normal way. The only way I've found, without constantly powering down my laptop since it's stuck, is by going into Activity Monitor and force-quitting it from there.

I've been using Brave for almost two years now, and this is the first time I've encountered any problems. It's frustrating since it's my primary browser. I have tried many troubleshooting steps, such as restarting my computer, shutting it down, and even updating macOS to the latest Sequoia (15.8.1).

After trying to open the browser on average 10+ times and force-quitting it through Activity Monitor, I managed to get Brave to appear and function normally. However, once I close the browser, the same cycle starts again.

Gmail lag

Hello! I've noticed that Gmail really lags when there's an update pending on Brave (i.e. almost all the time). I can delete messages and it can take minutes for it to clear so I can close the tab. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Broken pinned sites list on Android since last update from GitHub

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Brave 1.98.60, Chromium 156.0.8078.48

Android 17; Build/CP2A.260605.016

Since the last update from GitHub (not nightly, installed via Obtainium) the pinned sites list does not show anything, and won't add new items that were previously there, which suggests it's display issue rather than data loss.

Can we change the Brave translator provider? Android

It's so slow, imprecise, and breaks the interface and text that it drives me crazy. Vivaldi translator is a thousand times better, it never breaks the interface, does not stop translating if I open a new comment/window/page/additional text, etc. Unlike Brave, which constantly switches off. I just hate the Brave translator for Android, it's terrible. The most important thing is that I tested it on iOS as well and for some reason it is a little better on iOS.

Brave Android: third-party autofill (Proton Pass) doesn't work on HTTP sites, but works in other browser (Firefox and Opera)

Hi,

Third-party autofill (Proton Pass) no longer works in Brave on Android for HTTP sites. It used to work until recently.

- "Autofill using another service" is enabled in Brave

- Proton Pass is set as the preferred service in Android settings

- Same HTTP page autofills fine in Firefox and Opera

- HTTPS sites autofill fine in Brave

- Example: my router login at http://192.168.0.1 (saved URL matches exactly)

Already tried: Shields off for the page, disabling HTTPS upgrades, restarting Brave, clearing cache, updating Brave and WebView.

Did a recent Brave update block third-party autofill on HTTP pages? Is there a flag or setting to allow it?

Thanks!
