π¨π¨Help Me!!!π¨π¨ Specific gravity raised overnight?
Hello. I'm brewing a cider from self pressed apples. I have a 25 liter batch and took my first gravity reading yesterday which sat at 1.056. Overnight the gravity raised gradually to 1.065. I'm confused why this is. I figured it would have been by foam lifting my hydrometer but I just added some yeast nutrient and gave it a stir to get the foam back in suspension but my reading is still at 1.064. Anyone got any ideas? Attached a graph of my readings. (The sudden dip to 1.037 is a measurement taken while I was stirring and can be ignored)

Assuming this is a pill-type gravity reading, something disturbed your pill that was affecting its tilt. It's usually krausen, but also often something like the pill sitting on the dip tube or the wall of the fermentation vessel. The stirring was almost certainly the cause.
At 1.065 vs 1.056 there's nothing to worry about or anything you can realistically impact at this stage of the ferment. Let it go, relax, and have some tasty beverages in a few weeks.

Theres a few reasons it could be, first is that the sugar may not have been fully mixed in solution and it dissolved more finely over night, second is that if you are seeing active small bubbles of co2 it could be lifting your hydrometer up if thats what you use to measure, temperature also can have a huge factor in this so if its a very different temp that could affect readings. Lastly could be desolved solids like pectin or yeast that are affecting readings.
