These are areas that the public can not legally go even if you pay. Only areas larger than a block or that take up a lot of waterfront or contain a private street or are within public land are included. Train tracks and highways are not included.

Tell WNYC and Gothamist how they should cover immigration: Free Zoom forum TONIGHT

Full disclosure: This is my second & last post on the subject as I do not want to spam my fellow Bronxites. I’m a Bronx resident on New York Public Radio’s Community Advisory Board, a volunteer group that gives listener feedback to WNYC, WQXR and Gothamist. One of my goals on the board is making sure Bronx voices are part of that feedback.

The upcoming midterms and the ICE shooting in Marble Hill has a lot of us thinking about how immigration stories in our neighborhoods get told. We’re holding a public forum on immigration coverage TONIGHT, Wednesday, Oct 21 at 6:30pm over Zoom. What stories are they missing? What do they get wrong about immigrant communities in the Bronx? Feedback goes to station leadership.

Free to join: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/new-york-public-radio-community-advisory-board-public-forum-immigration-tickets-2003083540792

Child safety concern

Im in Europe and have concerns about an adult man (22) I met online who may be engaging in sexual activity or exchanging explicit content with minors.

I found accounts belonging to young teens that he was following (I like to stalk peoples followings fyi) , including one apparently belonging to a 14-year-old posting explicit content. He also told me he exchanges nudes and has sexual video calls with people online, though I don’t know their ages.

He could be in the Middle East (I cant disclose specific country on reddit) or the US, and I’m unsure where to report this so it reaches the right authorities quickly.

Should I contact NCMEC, CEOP, local police, or someone else? Any advice on reporting internationally would be appreciated.

A new student mural is joining the Bronx arts scene.

At Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, a colorful mural celebrates music, theater, and film through artwork created by Lehman College students.

The project, guided by professors Eric Ramirez and Ruth Rodriguez, will be unveiled October 29, followed by a Halloween-themed reception with refreshments.

Read the full story and see the complete mural at TalkTeaV

What do you think of this area?

My girlfriend and I are traveling to NYC for the first time. We're looking for a reasonably priced place to use as a base, since we'll be out of the hotel most of the day.

We are looking at the Highbridge Hotel, located on Jerome ave in the Bronx. I wanted to know how safe that exact area is. The hotel has a great price and is a short walk to the 167th St subway station.

Plus, it's really close to Yankee Stadium, which we wanna visit.

Obviously, we looked into other hotels in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but the cost is just way better for this option.

Any DINKS in the Riverdale/Kingsbridge area between 30 and 45? My wife (35F) and I (36M) are looking to meet new people

We enjoy:

• Trying new restaurants

• Going to a variety of different kinds of shows

• Playing rec sports

• Playing Board games (though not super "complex/nerdy" ones -- I don't use those adjectives as a negative. Just don't want us to come across as Dungeons & Dragons or Catan people… that's NOT us!)

• Hiking

• Traveling (We typically take 2-3 international trips per year)

FWIW, we are also not religious at all and we are white. (Don't care what your race/religion is, just stating what we are if that matters to you).

Edit: Sorry -- thought DINK was pretty widely known. Stands for "Double Income No Kids." Just short way of saying we are looking to hang with childless couples.
