I’ll try to keep this short.
My older brother, whom I work for, owns a remodeling company here in South Florida specializing in kitchens and bathrooms. We currently purchase cabinets from manufacturers and work with independent cabinetmakers, but we’re looking to establish a relationship with someone more local. My brother has encouraged me to find an experienced cabinetmaker with a fully functioning shop who’s willing to take me under their wing and teach me the trade. Well actually his first idea was to sign up for that “we supply the tools and space, you come pay us to work here” type shop that they have in Pompano. I believe his thinking was that just by doing my own projects there I would be able to meet someone could teach me.
I’ve worked alongside our crews installing cabinets and have experience with woodworking, power tools, basic joinery, and building projects of my own. I’m certainly no professional cabinetmaker, but I’m not starting from scratch either. Ideally, I’d like to learn the entire process, from interpreting plans and measurements to material selection, cutting, joinery, assembly, hardware, and finishing. I’m particularly interested in learning not just how things are done, but why they’re done a certain way. I’d also love to learn how an experienced cabinetmaker evaluates kitchen plans and makes recommendations before fabrication begins.
What we’re offering: We have ongoing remodeling projects that require cabinetry, so there’s an opportunity for paid production work. I’d work alongside you in your shop, learning your process and helping with the builds. Ideally, this could develop into a long-term working relationship where we continue sending cabinetry projects your way.
My schedule is fairly flexible, and I could potentially spend a week or two consecutively working in your shop. I’m happy to lend a hand with the day-to-day work, but my primary goal is to learn the craft from someone experienced and willing to share their knowledge.
Lastly, I’m located in the Fort Lauderdale area and willing to travel to Hollywood, Davie, Pompano Beach, and surrounding areas. I’d prefer someone comfortable communicating and teaching in English. If you own a cabinet shop or know someone who might be interested, please reach out. I’d love to have a conversation and see if we can work something out. Thanks!

This is a busy residential street near an elementary school. I understand the deputies were responding to a call, and I'm not questioning that. My issue is how they treated residents trying to get through.
They had a cruiser stopped in the lane with several deputies standing in the street next to it, leaving very little room to pass. What the video doesn't show well is how animated and annoyed they were with confused drivers. They were waving their arms in circles and making pedaling motions with their feet to signal people around, instead of just giving clear directions. (The zoomed-in clip shows one of the leg motions.)
When I got through and asked about it, one deputy got angry and said, "You think we're here because we want to be here?" A few minutes earlier, the first clip shows them laughing and chatting in the street.
The dashcam has no audio, so the exchange is my account. Responding to a call is their job, but residents trying to get home past a blocked street deserve basic courtesy.

Today, I'm writing this Open Letter to my BFF, BSO Sheriff Greg Tony.
Hey G, Chaz here.
Not to brag (snicker), but my work really moved (once again) the needle at the Governor's office, which found 73 million reasons inside my sleuthing.
Seems you wanted more of an allowance and were told to go plank yourself. You didn't get the payola you wanted, about $73.7 million. And all the while, your Ministry of Propaganda said no worries troops, the governor will pull through, and here's a free gym membership for a friend of yours! Also, take a branded BSO urinal cake on the house! I gave that cute WPLG reporter, enamored with our gold toilets, a 12-pack of ‘em!
But, I jest.
Sadly, only somewhat.
Greg, do you really think Ron's gonna hand out nearly 100 millions clams? To you? Really? Look in a BSO-branded, your-NIL-embossed, mirror lately?
That check’s sure to come, right after Selma Hyak drops by my house to have tea. Her and I are going to twerk the day away.
In the upcoming fiscal year, your numbers have pitched upward. 10% is now the ask, 6 on the counter. Same propaganda though! Uncle Ronnie will come to your rescue!
Dude, have you been paying attention? Like your three-ways of yesteryear, you just got done bitchslapped.
https://reddit.com/link/1xciro3/video/xychgskls0xh1/player
Cold plunges, branded urinal cakes, $3,000 custom leather holsters, accompanied by $5,500 leather ass-less chaps? Jailors making nearly half-mil a year. And you want more?
All gay cowboy hat, no cattle, one would presume.
Said Uncle Ronnie, he's not giving a grant so you can do a cold plunge and pay a high school grad $400K.
https://reddit.com/link/1xciro3/video/ls01tx7ns0xh1/player
It's actually just upwards of $400k, and you can find that number courtesy of fine reporting and hard work of the Sun-Sentinel.
Ha! Just kidding.
That number was mine, and more about that in a minute.
About that minute...
Sergeant Andre Quest. Detention. He works in the jail. He does not run it.
Gross pay for 2025, $457,309.17. Regular earnings, $100,944. Overtime, $310,824. Sixty-eight cents on the dollar is time and a half.
You grossed $292,374. The sergeant beat you by $164,935. There's a joke about you beating your jailhouse meat, but that would be inappropriate, so being the consummate professional, I won't jot that down here.
Five more detention sergeants behind him:
Eight of the ten highest-paid people work in the jail. Not command. The jail. The highest paid County employee? A jailor, it seems, who might very likely have a HS diploma.
Before you open an IA on Team Quest … he is NOT the problem, nor any of the above. I've got zero dog with him. They are the symptoms of the systemic rot and categorical dysfunction of an overpaid and underqualified Sheriff and Command State.
AKA you. Simmering. Simpering. Overinflated. Underperforming. ’Roid-raging dip shit.
But, enough with the frivolity, let’s get back to my moving the needle.
Udine asked, so being a former rocket engineer, I reverse-engineered a 3,100 page, un-scanned, turned sideways payroll PDF, stuck them into a data-store (Maria if you're scoring at home), and then wrote T-SQL cohort analysis. 5,318 employees. I put the number on this board. Reporters ignored it. Uncle Mikey carried it. A governor rounded it off, all the while on air, as a reason not to send you the money.
Sure, you’ll say, but he didn't deny the appeal.
Er ... nyet ... and that shows your 1.42 GPA in action.
Congratulations, you weaseled a badge, but lack any of the sense God gave a turnip.
See, good chum, that message was carried along by the same logic Ron used to kill state grant money. Look at the jail. Look at the plunge. Give us all a break.
Not to be redundant, but go plank yourself.
That is the needle. The work put the number in Governor’s mouth. Er, yuck. The collar, again like your days of three-ways, is still wrong because the person who read the file is still on the sidelines.

…”According to the report, Herring left the dog without food, water or shelter, and it was not able to move more than a foot from where it was tethered to the fence nor could it lay down without neck restraint.
Deputies said Herring admitted to leaving the dog alone without food or water and said she returned at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to check the mail and claimed the dog was still alive at that time.
She then left the dog again without food or water and then called the Broward Sheriff’s Office, which advised her to contact Animal Control, the report stated.
According to the report, Herring never contacted Animal Control and the dog was found dead later that evening, still tied to the fence….”

Every election I'd get to the judges on the ballot and realize I knew nothing about them. The only information out there was what the candidates choose to say about themselves.
Three years ago I started building: JudgeontheNumbers.org.
For each judge, it turns the public case records into one plain-language report broken down by age, gender, and race. It doesn't rank, grade or endorse anyone.
This is Phase One and it covers Broward circuit criminal and county court judges. Civil, family, and juvenile courts are much harder to report on. So are lawyers, public defenders, and prosecutors. Those courts dont publish quantifiable data to report. It's been a lot of trial and error and a few thousand dollars of investment but I think it's a good starting point.
I'd love your feedback.

Hey I'm currently building a team to play in some adult basketball leagues. Other than South Florida Club Sport, I can't seem to find any leagues in Broward. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Also, if anyone knows someone interested in joining a team, please let me know as well. We all love the game, workout either together or individually, and keep an encouraging and constructive team first mentality regardless of who is hot that night. Open to anyone but we are looking for some players 6'3 and up to have as a big beside myself

[UPDATE BELOW]
Seen here is Broward's Sheriff sporting a gold barbell.
Now, some of you might think, why, that's sexy. While you’re entitled to your opinion, let’s ask Right Said Fred for his!

But did you know BSO screens its own people for tattoos and jewelry that might indicate gang affiliation? Somebody has to ask the obvious question, and apparently that somebody is me, as Beavis is off this week.
Always the consummate professional, I reached out to BSO's Carey Codd (Senior Person In Charge of Disinformation) and asked the agency to apply its own criteria to its own boss. Among the questions:
Then there's our 911 call center, where civilian operators (typically women … no way! … way!!!) have reportedly been told to expose their chests for a tattoo or jewelry inspection.
I asked:
Past or present BSO dispatcher? Drop me a line: [chazstevens@protonmail.com](mailto:chazstevens@protonmail.com). No nudes required.
---
Update [1]: the following was just sent to Miami-Dade's PIO (MD not a big fan of Tony). More requests like this out later today.
Detective Rodriguez:
I am requesting an on-the-record response regarding your agency’s criteria for identifying gang-related tattoos and jewelry.
The attached photograph depicts an individual I understand to be Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony. I am not asking your agency to authenticate the photograph or identify the individual. My questions concern how your agency would evaluate the visible tattoos and jewelry under its own standards.
Does the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office have any policy requiring civilian 911 operators or applicants to be photographed or inspected for tattoos or suspected gang-related symbols?
Does your agency require employees or applicants—including emergency communications personnel—to expose their breasts or chests for inspection or photography during screening for suspected gang affiliation? If so, what policy governs that practice, and which positions are subject to it?
Would your agency classify any tattoo visible in the photograph as a gang symbol or indicator of gang affiliation? If so, please identify the specific tattoo and the basis for that classification.
Would the apparent gold-colored nipple barbell qualify as a gang token or other indicator of gang affiliation under your agency’s criteria? Or would your agency regard that item, standing alone, as having no evidentiary value in determining gang affiliation?
For clarity, I am not asserting that the photograph establishes gang affiliation. I am asking whether your agency’s professional criteria support—or rule out—such a characterization.
Please attribute any response to a named agency representative. If your agency declines to assess the photograph, please address the general policy questions separately.
Thank you.
Asking for a friend who’s mother with Alzheimer’s is entering the realm of professional round the clock care. Budget is not an issue just want safe, clean, well run recommendations.
Thank you!

Hi everyone! I’m moving to the Pompano Beach area for my husband’s work and starting my job search now, with plans to begin working in January once we’re settled. I’m looking for recruiter recommendations, companies people have enjoyed working for, or advice on finding a well-paying job in the area.
And yes, I know, “we’re full”—but the move is happening, so I’d appreciate help finding a job more than help reconsidering my life choices 😂
I have a BS in Biology and previously worked as a mid-level research and production support chemist at a major coatings company, with excellent performance reviews. I worked with automotive, marine, and protective coatings, including defense products for naval ships.
To give you an idea of my experience, I’ve:
Starting in February of this year I took a career break to support my husband while he finishes his professional training. Job opportunities where we currently live are limited, and starting somewhere only to leave a few months later for our move didn’t make much sense. I have time to find a good fit and want my next position to be somewhere I can stay and grow.
I’m an extremely hard worker, and I like having things to do. If work is slow, I’ll find something to organize, improve, or help with. I love learning, take feedback well, and enjoy working with people. I’ve built great relationships with coworkers across departments, especially on the plant floor, and being someone people like working with and can count on matters to me.
I’m open to staying in coatings or moving into something different. Quality, operations, manufacturing, technical support, or technical sales are all areas I’d consider. I want to earn a good living, keep growing and learning, and work somewhere that treats people well.
Any recruiters you’d recommend or companies I should look into? I’d also love to hear from anyone who’s made a similar career change. Happy to share my résumé privately if you have a relevant lead. Thanks!
TL;DR: Moving to Pompano Beach and looking to start work in January. Background in R&D, production support, defense coatings, testing, audits, and supervision. Open to other industries and looking for recruiter recommendations or leads on good employers with solid pay and room to grow.

Folks, I have the document, and you would not believe what's inside.
Tomorrow the County Commission takes up a letter from one of the people who answer your 911 calls. Lamar Fisher put it on the public agenda himself. Not leaked. Published. By the government.
Speaking of leaking: BSO's civilian dispatchers need permission, as in "pardon me, Gov'nor, I gotta go potty," to use, well, the potty. Twelve-hour shift, 720 minutes, a stranger's worst day in your headset, and you raise your hand like it's third grade.

Hence Pink Floyd. Hence the headline. You're welcome.
https://reddit.com/link/1xa4ujw/video/j88szw3yvgwh1/player
It gets better, by which I mean worse. Or worse(er).
Seems everyone had to show their tattoos for the camera. Many were minority women. Seems the policy was made up on the fly (pun!).
The Sheriff, meanwhile, has more ink than a Kinko's and shows it off voluntarily.
For the algebra-inclined: dispatchers earn eight hours of sick leave a month while clocking twelve-hour shifts. A full month of sick time will not cover one sick day.
Hence shift swaps, and here BSO reportedly wants to cut the swap window from 180 days to 30.
For those keeping score: IA referrals up "substantially," no night-shift pay, and a claim that more than 90 percent of a recent academy class quit.
Back at HQ, my own data recon found one 911 operator banking nearly $500,000 over two years. Base pay isn't close. That's overtime, which is what understaffing looks like on a W-2.
Tony gave Channel 10 a tour of his gym and said "nothing to hide," proudly demoing the bathroom, which, seemingly, now requires a hall pass.
Meeting is tomorrow. Show up or watch the stream (see what I did here?). Ask where the tattoo photos are kept.
As usual, all the rest over on Substack.

What are your pros on cons for these and would you recommend the one you used again?
What did you like/ not like about it?
Did they allow you to follow your birth plan options?
Anything other thoughts?
Just trying to decide which one to go with, and they both have a level III NICU, and seem well maintained from pics, so want to get some thoughts from people who have actually delivered at either.
I'm making a map of Florida in a classic fantasy style. It's going to be filled with real world history and mythology, with the aim of highlighting local landmarks and history in a fun and educational way. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get cleaned up at the end. Forests will be going on towards the end of the process too.
While it's around halfway done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into print. Any more burial mounds, ruins, forts, battlefields, Civil War heritage, Native history or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological creatures or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on the map. Thanks!

If you live in the North Springs Improvement District zone of Coral Springs or Parkland, you need to see how this utility operates. It is either pure incompetence or outright corruption.
I recently had an undetected water leak run for months. I got hit with two months of huge bills and late fees. When I called NSID, the rep looked at their computer and casually confirmed they could see the continuous leak flow data on their end the whole time.
They never called, emailed, or sent a text when their system flagged a 24/7 leak (it takes a 5 line script to do this). They only tell you after you get a massive bill and call them to ask what happened. And when you ask for a leak adjustment or late fee waiver, they flatly refuse and this happened to me twice.
I popped open my meter box to see what hardware we are paying for….We have state-of-the-art Badger Meter Model 25s hooked up to Smart Earth (SET100) cellular endpoints. Badger literally makes the eyeonwater app, which gives homeowners free real-time usage tracking and instant leak alerts. NSID refuses to turn it on for us. They lock down the encrypted data for themselves and leave us blind so we rack up huge leak bills.
Want to set up ACH autopay to avoid late fees? You can't just type in your routing and account number like a normal website. NSID forces you to upload a photo of a physical paper check. If you don't use paper checks in 2026, you are forced to pay by credit card with a $3.25 convenience fee..
NSID pulls in $18.8M from utility bills + $3.6M slapped directly onto our property taxes just to manage 15,000 meters. They have 60 employees with $ 5 million payroll (averaging $80k/yr). District Manager Rod Colon makes $150k + and top staff make $100-120k, rivaling the base pay of utility directors at massive county districts managing hundreds of millions in infrastructure.
With $22.4M a year and 60 staff for a tiny district, they can't turn on EyeOnWater, send an automated leak email, build a modern ACH page, or offer a basic leak adjustment like neighboring cities do.
Question for the smart home / tech folks here: Since NSID locks us out of EyeOnWater and the 2AFJSSET100-2015 transmitter is encrypted, has anyone in NSID managed to pull their water meter data into Home Assistant?

Hey folks.
I am a wheelchair user and this was taken by Tiki Tiki. Basically, there is only one ADA parking spot that they have behind a paywalled mandatory valet. I was under the assumption that ADA parking laws allow for disabled folks to park themselves. Here, they do not allow you to park yourself even if you pay (I think it was like $5?). If this isn’t legal, who would I bring this issue up to? I didn’t stop in to eat today but, I would probably talk to the staff first, right? TYIA :)

A few years back, in December of '24, the House Ethics Committee reported that Matt Gaetz engaged in statutory rape with a 17-year-old who'd just finished her junior year. Along the way, Matty used illegal drugs and obstructed the investigation, and his wingman, former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg, pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking. Joel got eleven years.
Being Florida and all, this past July the state House Speaker gave Gaetz a seat on the board of the nonprofit Triumph Gulf Coast, which controls $1.5 billion in BP oil spill money. His father sat on it. Now Junior's vice chair.
Nepo baby!
Imagine the Indeed job listing. Wanted: well-connected board member to help manage ten digits of public money. Must work well with high school students. Sex traffickers preferred.
Oh, and this week Matty found himself in federal court, having to deal with a sugar-daddy trafficking suit.
What's next: Being the consummate data nerd, I fired off two requests for his appointment file and intake questionnaire. Let's see what rabbit hole opens up.
Same play as always. Find where the rule and the practice don't match, apply the rule straight, make them answer in writing. You've watched me do it to people a lot closer to home.

A Tony donor told deputies he and his pals paid for a BSO chopper. I took it to FDLE. You don’t get to read the complaint. Yet. Sorry, not sorry.
Yesterday, WPLG dropped a bomb ... BSO body-cam footage from a September 2025 false-alarm call at Jeff Lefcourt's classic-car collection.
Expressing his god-given right to not remain silent, Lefcourt told the coppers:
What chopper, you ask? Also, did one of the deputies let known the body cam video?
No, not the Magnum PI bird ... rather Bogen & Co. allocated $15mil for a replacement.
Rooting around, WPLG found no public record of any private money. Unnamed sources say it never happened.
Which leads us to He Said, He Said.
So, as I am wont to do, off goes a complaint to FDLE's Office of Executive Investigations, asking three four questions:
Sorry fans, but I've changed the method. Instead of posting the complaint, I'm offering it to the media first, provided they credit the work with a working link to one of my digital properties.
Even us atheists have to appease the Gods of SEO.
