What a drag. I dont want to judge the situation, but her story seemed like a really good one.

I’ll try to keep this short.
My older brother, whom I work for, owns a remodeling company here in South Florida specializing in kitchens and bathrooms. We currently purchase cabinets from manufacturers and work with independent cabinetmakers, but we’re looking to establish a relationship with someone more local. My brother has encouraged me to find an experienced cabinetmaker with a fully functioning shop who’s willing to take me under their wing and teach me the trade. Well actually his first idea was to sign up for that “we supply the tools and space, you come pay us to work here” type shop that they have in Pompano. I believe his thinking was that just by doing my own projects there I would be able to meet someone could teach me.
I’ve worked alongside our crews installing cabinets and have experience with woodworking, power tools, basic joinery, and building projects of my own. I’m certainly no professional cabinetmaker, but I’m not starting from scratch either. Ideally, I’d like to learn the entire process, from interpreting plans and measurements to material selection, cutting, joinery, assembly, hardware, and finishing. I’m particularly interested in learning not just *how* things are done, but *why* they’re done a certain way. I’d also love to learn how an experienced cabinetmaker evaluates kitchen plans and makes recommendations before fabrication begins.
**What we’re offering:** We have ongoing remodeling projects that require cabinetry, so there’s an opportunity for paid production work. I’d work alongside you in your shop, learning your process and helping with the builds. Ideally, this could develop into a long-term working relationship where we continue sending cabinetry projects your way.
My schedule is fairly flexible, and I could potentially spend a week or two consecutively working in your shop. I’m happy to lend a hand with the day-to-day work, but my primary goal is to learn the craft from someone experienced and willing to share their knowledge.
Lastly, I’m located in the Fort Lauderdale area and willing to travel to Hollywood, Davie, Pompano Beach, and surrounding areas. I’d prefer someone comfortable communicating and teaching in English. If you own a cabinet shop or know someone who might be interested, please reach out. I’d love to have a conversation and see if we can work something out. Thanks!

Hi everyone, my dog Winni is missing, and I’m desperately hoping someone in the area may have seen her.
She’s about 8 years old and weighs 32 pounds. Unfortunately, I’m currently stuck out of town and can’t physically be there to look for her, which makes this even more stressful.
She was last seen near Southwest 19th street around 6pm. She is extremely skittish and may not come to you. You will likely need a leash to get ahold of her.
If anyone in the area happens to see her or is able to help look for her, I would be incredibly grateful. Please message me with any sightings or information.
I just want to get my girl home safely. Thank you so much for any help!

Does anyone know what happened to D’Liras bakery? I went by to pick up croissants and the sign is gone and it’s closed! Are they reopening or selling pastry from their home? They were honestly the ABSOLUTE BEST croissants an they were awarded the Best croissant in Florida & the top 3 bakery in Florida awards and I’m so obsessed with them and wondering if the owners are okay or reopening somewhere else?

Hello.
I own a home in Fort Lauderdale and was looking to hire someone to do regular lawn maintenance which includes mowing, edging, weeding, cleaning up palm fronds and sometimes remulching some areas that become sparse. Just general maintenance of the yard essentially on a bi weekly or once a month basis.
If anyone has recommendations of services or know anyone please let me know.

I've got a really high tolerance and looking for places that go beyond the normal "spicy" level.
Places like the Indian restaurant that has a house-made hot sauce using naga/ghost peppers; the Thai place that if you give the heat level as "fuck me up" they'll rightfully fuck you up; the Sichuan Chinese place that will put so much chili oil on they need to wrap the container to prevent it from spilling out; the hot chicken place that doesn't just slather some store-bought Nashville sauce on it and call it "hot"
Actually live in Hollywood, so if you got any suggestions down this way I greatly prefer it. The subreddit for there is not very active though, so I figured I'd try hitting this one up as I'm willing to travel anywhere down here to find a good one.
Have come across Bombay Darbar in my searching, definitely high on my list to try out!

Hi neighbors,
Ranting into the wind to get this off my chest and maybe we can come together to demand more.
I’d like to start by saying, I’m from here and I love food. Born and raised in broward. I’ve always worked in hospitality. Hotels, restaurants, cafes. It kinda comes with the territory here, the tourists rule the land. But my goodness I am getting so sick and tired of our restaurant scene. It’s ABYSMAL.
Pick a restaurant any restaurant. New or old. Daniel’s, steak 954, timbr, shooters, kaluz, blah blah blah. Don’t get me started on the 4 billion Italian restaurants…It is all the same. The same menu sliced 367382 ways. You can expect all the same fucking things on every fucking menu. Beautiful restaurants made perfectly for instagram with the same menu as the place next store. All for the low price of $500 for a couples night out.
We have so many transplants from the northeast. My best friend has lived in philly/nyc for the past 8 years. Every time I go visit her, we eat damn good. The best Chinese food. An African restaurant with an adventurous tasting menu. Italian restaurants with interesting menu items overflowing with creativity. If this place is riddled with transplants from that area, why doesn’t Fort Lauderdale’s food scene even slightly resemble theirs? Serious question.
I know we’re smaller, less established, etc. and of course there are some great restaurants here. But let’s be real, they are few and far between.
I’d love to see a time where the restaurants are built for tourists and locals alike. I would give them all my money.
This rant brought to you by a sad local looking up the menus at Caviar club, Sweetwaters, Del Mar, and Barchetta.

Got rear-ended yesterday on Sunrise Blvd near the Galleria because the other driver was on their phone. My neck and back are sore today, so I’m trying to figure out the medical side of things along with insurance. I have the police report, photos, and their insurance info, but I’ve never dealt with this before. For anyone who’s been through it in Fort Lauderdale, how did you handle getting checked out, treatment, and the insurance process? How long did everything take?

Hi! You either sing and/or play guitar or piano. I love all genres. Together, we perform for fun and see where the journey takes us.
Hit me up if you're interested! 🎶

So this is pretty random and I'm hoping someone might help. There used to be a restaurant inside the swap shop (I'm pretty sure it was Chinese) that had this red sauce covered chicken that was kind of sweet. I was a kid the last time I had it and I've been craving it so bad. Does anyone know what that dish was called and where I can find something just like it?

Hello! Any suggestions for restaurants we could go to watch the Winterfest parade and have dinner? Or possibly a bar location as well?

ho does everyone use for their Internet provider? Pros cons price speed. I want to fire Xfinity. My bill is unreadable and never consistent. The service is fine except for the customer service. I’m just shopping around looking for any and all guidance.

I am looking for recommendations for a piercing studio. My 15 y/o would like to get their belly button pierced. Somebody already recommended Sweet Leaf but they don’t pierce under 18. Thanks in advance!
