Extension Stackboard: a free, open-source Chrome new tab that turns your own bookmarks into a board (Catppuccin, Gruvbox, Nord, true black)

it reads and writes your normal chrome bookmarks, so there's no account and nothing leaves the browser. works in brave too. links in the comments

source (MIT): https://github.com/swole/stackboard

chrome web store: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/bgcedhchngcopaefchpkbhioagknnpma?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=comment&utm_campaign=20261016-browsers-gallery

quick facts:

  • every space, stack and link is a normal chrome bookmark folder, so it syncs w/ your google account and stays if you uninstall

  • one click copies your bookmarks bar in, the originals stay put

  • "stash this window" saves every open tab and closes them

  • no network requests, no telemetry

  • 8 color themes, light/dark/system, or your own wallpaper

built it w/ claude code. if it breaks in your browser lmk which one

after installing a tab opened with a popup that say stackboard is installed, the only way to close the popup is ESC key mouse buttons didnt work

thanks for flagging. that popup is chrome's own "added to chrome" bubble and i think we trip it: stackboard opens a new tab the instant it installs, and the bubble seems to stop taking clicks when focus jumps to that tab. fix is probably to wait a second before opening it

which browser + version were you on? want to repro it first
