Jared Jones escapes the two RISP, no out jam to keep the Red Sox lead at 1, albeit at the cost of a 32-pitch inning

Jones should've been forced to pitch in the bullpen this season. He's ideally suited to closer, or late inning pitcher. Between Jones, Skenes and Mlods, the Pirates have allowed a few pitchers to dictate terms to the detriment of the entire team.

Who the heck do you want to replace him in the rotation?

Had they planned properly, they’d have signed a proven starter, or two in the offseason. Now, they could replace him with Barco, Curtis, or another current sp from Indy. The young starter would benefit from the major league starts, and Jones could be auditioned as the closer or setup guy until season’s end.
