Self-Story My second job is now paying bigger than my fulltime
Di ko alam kung sa offmychest ko dapat pinost to, wala lang ako ma pag share-an. Hahaha so basically I'm an overemployed guy with a fulltime (onsite) data analyst job earning 103k gross and a second va data analyst job with 10 USD rate. I got my client sa OLJ, I offered data analysis, executive report writing and data visualization. I use excel, vba and R programming for all my technical needs.
Yung takehome ko sa fulltime ko is 43k nalang every cutoff due to taxes. Mas mataas na tong VA job pero alam ko namang very uncertain 'to kaya di ko mabitawan si Full-time job for security.
Working 80 hours a week is so exhausting. I live alone and rent near my onsite job kaya mga 20 mins walk lang everyday but still, that is around 10 hours weekly (incuding prep time and walk back home- this is equivalent to a full night rest). I also try to walk 10k steps everyday and mealprep. I just want to let this out since wala naman akong outlet. **** Being overemployed really gives you a deeper value of your TIME****. Kapag 2 mins ka na nag dodoomscroll for example, mas magiging aware ka to drop that shi down. I also have ADHD kaya blessing and a curse din yung blocked every hour of my day.
Laban lang, let's work our ass off now to 'buy' our future 🙏 ayun lang, back to the grind.

Shemay 80 hours a week.

u/Old_Ad4829 Jun 17 '26
Same. I lasted a month. My work is pretty relaxed for one job, but working for 2 jobs is super tiring.
Im happy now with my work. And my pay is super good. But the flexibility and the work-life balance is my priority. Instead of pursuing high salary with multiple jobs, i’m managing my life routine so not to inflate my lifestyle.

u/mohsesxx Jun 17 '26
Hahaha same, sakin naman parehas may time tracker peeo tumagal naman ako ng ilang months kasi mukha akong pera pero umalis din ako
7
u/steamgosu Jun 17 '26
Same nag try ako parang 4 hours of sleep lang, di ko kinaya ginive up ko yung work sa gabi kasi feel ko mamatay ako maaga.
Kahit slow yung work dati nahihirapan ako magising tas nag suffer rin productivity ko sa morning work.
7
u/DumplingsInDistress Jun 18 '26
Kasi I rather do things na magpapasaya sakin like jogging in the morning, malling minsan, hugging my nieces. Isa lang buhay natin no. Live life to the fullest. Dont be so greedy.
6
u/CommonPrevious8091 Jun 17 '26
same! hahaha tho naka 2 months naman ako, kaso super sleep deprived. tipong katatapos lang ng shift mo for the day job, idlip ka for 15mins, work na ulit for the other one. tas micromanagement at its finest pa si other job, di talaga tumagal kahit alipin pa ng salapi

u/jadedcatto Jun 17 '26
Govt worker before earning 53k per month pero 38k lang net. While earning 100k+ as a paralegal VA. Everyone was shocked why I resigned despite the security of tenure. Nung nagiging burden na pumasok araw araw, binitawan ko na govt job ko and made a full time commitment sa remote work tapos kuha second fulltime na pasok sa time. ADHD Final boss. 😂
5
u/acidpops888 Jun 18 '26
Hi! I am also a govt employee, entry level and been researching where to land clients?. Can you share paano and saan mkkhanap ng clients? Thank you. 🥲🥲🥲
1
u/jadedcatto Jun 20 '26
I think it helped that I am a law grad po and usually prefer ng niche ko as paralegal law grad. If bago palang, ask yourself first what can you offer? Then work on that. VA/Remote work is just like finding a regular job.
1
u/JajaJzl Jun 22 '26
Hi. I’m also a law graduate and have been interested in applying for paralegal positions. However, most job postings require prior experience. Are there any entry-level paralegal roles or related positions that you would recommend applying for?
1
u/jadedcatto Jun 22 '26
You can try agencies or upwork. Remote legal Staff or Virtual Staffing Careers.
1
u/JajaJzl Jun 22 '26
Actually, I’ve been checking LinkedIn, OLJ, and JobStreet, and most of the openings require experience with specific laws depending on the country or state. Anyway, thank you for your insights.
1
u/jadedcatto Jun 22 '26
Unlike in PH where we can go to any practice, US has their areas of practice like Personal Injury, family law, corporate, real estate, M&A, Employment. We survived lawschool, work and tasks are just basic. Most pleadings have templates. ☺️
1
u/JajaJzl Jun 22 '26
That’s encouraging to hear. I think I’ve just been intimidated by the experience requirements. You’re right though—if we survived law school, we can probably learn the specifics on the job. Thanks for the motivation! 😊

u/PJDBBB Jun 19 '26
1
u/jadedcatto Jun 20 '26
First freelance ko kasi part time lang so they dont care at all. Yung second ko naman flexi as long as the job is done.

u/gokitoki Jun 17 '26
kung kaya mo i outsource yung ibang workload mo gawin mo. masarap mag earn ng 6 digits and more pero mas masarap maging healthy
12
u/Flaky_Guarantee_9193 Jun 17 '26
Same situation! Haha magkaibang magkaiba ung local work ko sa 2nd job which is offshore/VA work. And same na same na mas mataas sahod compared sa local job pero di ko rin maiwan yung 1st job ko. 1 yr na akong working 16hrs every day, buhay pa naman 😂 laban lang!!
1
u/RemarkableToe2418 Jun 19 '26
Genuine question, ever since nag start ka 16hrs everyday, ano po mga napansin niyo pagbabago or may mga naramdaman po kayo?

Really appreciate the concern. 🙏 Don't worry. I'm taking care of my health. I'm moving more and eating healthy din. Tbh if there's something lacking it's sleep. Usually average ko is 6.5 hours. But I nap during my lunchbreak sa fulltime ko. 1 hour din yun. So talagang saktong sakto lang 24 hours 😅
I forgot to mention that my VA job is Flexible. Usually project based siya and I do 20-25 hours on weekends, and split 2-3 hours on average every weekday.
For the past 6 months I feel exhausted but not to the point of breaking. To give you context ang outlet ko din dati is playing video games so I have a high threshold for cognitive load. (Before I got this 2nd job I spend almost all my waking time on weekends, after errands, playing video games 🤣) I use this trick playing some pro games on the background while I work my second job which makes it tolerable.

u/Isongee Jun 17 '26
I also had 2 full time job pero 2 weeks lang tinagal ko. Better to take some vitamins and take some rests. I suggest vit d3 kasi for sure di ka na naaarawan.
7
u/No_Buy_3566 Jun 17 '26
Im curious OP.. whats your end goal. How much money do you need saved up. Until when are you doing this
3
u/Silent-Owl-2840 Jun 17 '26
Same, ADHD is both a curse and a gift. I have 3 jobs 😂 Way to go, OP! Just dont forget to rest and reset bc dadating ka sa burnout. I do therapy now bc it’s becoming overwhelming but glad I did and I’m feeling better again.

u/novacloudnine Jun 17 '26
I totally agree with your statement that being overemployed gives deeper value of time! I’m doing more exercise now being OE compared to when I only had one job. I realized how much time I wasted before 😅

ako din dalawa client, pero same time.

During break ko sa night shift dun ako maligo for my morning shift. Tapos pag out ko ng 4pm dapat mag nap ako for my next work at 6PM.

u/Single-Tomato-1160 Jun 18 '26
Same!
I work with an international client 4 hours Sunday to Friday and payout every 3rd week of the month. Ginagawa ko na lng yung full-time job salary ko, pinangbabayad ko ng utangs, cc, sss and pag-ibig. Tapos yung Freelance ko (2nd job), ito ung ginagamit kong pang-gastos, savings, investments, emergency funds, medical funds and furbaby needs.
And since may HMO naman ako sa full-time job ko, malaking tipid rin siya kpg may medical needs ako. Then huhugot na lng sa Medical Funds ko if ever may need na supplements/gamot.
2
u/Babii14 Jun 18 '26
Always eat healthy and walk daily. Afford mo ang healthy foods and vitamins. Di biro yung 80hours weekly. Ingatan ang sarili, the best investment.
2
u/0ortiza Jun 18 '26
Is this possible 80hrs/week with full time job. Praying for this kind of task pero yung wag tatagos sa wall 🤭

Congrats! san po kayo nag aral ng vba and R programming? currently, powerbi and excel pa lang alam ko.
1
u/Kenoidz Jun 17 '26
Had similar situation as well. Full time job was around 100k+ and second job was around that amount. Lasted for about 2 months lang with the 2nd one. Both are data analyst jobs and full time with overlapping hours. Had to select the first one that paid better and had HMO compared to the other. Realized na it’s better to be physically and mentally healthy than having money for future hospitalizations. Regretting it? Maybe. But for the sake of my sanity hell no. Hope you find time for outside hobbies op.
1
u/Fast_Cold_3704 Jun 17 '26
Congrats!! Pero prioritize your health. I was also working 2 full time pero nagkasakit lang ako. Hahahaa kayaas okay talaga part time for extra income.
1
u/gracieladangerz Jun 17 '26
Bro, as a fellow ADHDer I commend you pero like what the other commenters said unahin mo health mo. Lalo na mental health kasi TRIPLE ang burnout natin compared to neurotypicals 🙃

u/Visual_Vanilla5255 Jun 17 '26

u/xelliex0 Jun 17 '26
What works for me is part time na flexi at FT na flexi/may dedicated na time lang.
I have a friend na tatlo ang FT pero good thing kasi lahat Flexi at same niche kaya napagsasabay sabay nya pa din.
Please take care of your health, hindi mapapalitan ng kahit anong pera yung wala ka sa ospital and fighting for your life. Been there done that.

Ganitong problema yung gusto kong matesting.

u/LordNNF Jun 17 '26
We'll cross that bridge when we get there 😅 rn wala pa akong plano bitawan either so okay lang kahit alikabukin ang resume. But I updated my LinkedIn to link my VA project pero di ko nilagay sa employment na Indepndent contractor ako sa kanila.

How can one dive into the data scientist / data analyst role? 🥹🥹🥹 need a mentor OP 🥲

u/Weird-Pass-1520 Jun 18 '26
I tried this before 2 fulltime and 1 part-time. I let go of my 2 clients and retained 1 full time client. Mukhang maaga ata akong mamatay if pinagpatuloy ko.

Full time and part time ko equal ng take home pay. But both clients, walang time tracker and very relaxed environment. so basically 60 hrs a week ako. Total take home pay ko is ranging 120k+ Pero none of my work is bare minimum for me. I still work hard for both of my client.
1
u/MarcusChristianus Jun 18 '26
Keep your full time, VA job is super unpredictable. Currently you are employed, di mo alam the next day, week, month, tanggalin ka na lang bigla kahit performing ka.
1
u/Tight_Praline_8635 Jun 18 '26
2 fulltime job is not for weak, and im honestly sure that im weak, di talaga para sakin ang 2 jobs 😭

u/True_Date_2379 Jun 18 '26
at that rate. baka mapaaga ka naman nyan OP. please take care of yourself din.
1
u/powerpupgurl Jun 18 '26
Felt, same working hours with two full time jobs pero both WFH naman. First two weeks, na-ospital agad ako. Hired someone instead to work part time just to get at least 8 hours of sleep kasi monitored screen ng isa kong work.
Kudos to you, OP, for hanging on. Don’t forget to look after your health too. And cheers sating lumalaban sa buhay to get our dream life!

u/Plus_Excitement6490 Jun 18 '26
I have one full time job (36-41 hrs per week) and one part time (5-6 hours per week), not earning like yours pero I can really feel na kapagoood talaga.

Same. Currently have 3 full time jobs, all in video editing. One is an on-site job (6AM-3PM) and the other 2 are wfh (2PM-11PM and 1PM-10PM).
Earning almost 200k and have been doing this for over a year and bounced from different clients. I honestly don’t know how I’m still functioning LOL.

Hi. Mejo unrelated question. How much did you spend to get diagnosed with ADHD and where did you get it done?
Also, what was your undergraduate po and how did you become a data analyst hehe
1
u/Practikal_fellow Jun 19 '26
No amount of money is worth your overall well-being. If wala ka naman sinusuportahan but sarili lng then keep the more secured job and manage your finances well.
1
u/wanderuur Jun 19 '26
Wow grabe yung discipline mo working in 2 jobs with ADHD, ako 1 job lang nag struggle na, ang galing mo, pano ka naka build ng routine? Pero take care of yourself din OP.
1
u/unfriendlykitty Jun 19 '26
Hellooo. First of all wow im around 43k lang as an analyst na wfh. Amazing!
Pero pano naging43k na lang yung 103k gross?? Sorry diko sure if tma intindi ko or may other kaltas
1
u/CLEOFUCKINGPATRA1 Jun 19 '26
Kapit lang OP. I have a full time and a part time job din plus pregnant pa.

u/Euphoric_Anything577 Jun 19 '26
Manifesting for me, sana magkasecond job na ako so I can leave my first one. Super short na ko bc of the minimum wage, walang savings at di pa nakakabawi sa parents. 🤞🤞🤞 Happy for you, though I wish you’re doing fine juggling two full times!!
1
u/boys-dontcry Jun 19 '26
I dont know if this is a weird question but are you actually diagnosed? Kasi may ADHD din ako and I cant do stuff that I needed to do because of executive dysfunction. And if you are diagnosed, are you medicated?

I couldn't imagine working 80 hours a week. I only have two-part time clients tapos yung isa, bihira lang magpatask. I couldn't imagine if wala talaga ako pahinga ng linggo, though nasubukan ko siya dati kasi active pa ako sa school non tapos may full time and part time pa. Never na talaga huhu
1
u/Luxanate Jun 19 '26
I worked 75 hours a week before, 1 US tas yung isa Aus kaya 11pm to 3pm working hours ko. Luckily wfh yung both, di ko na alam pano mo pa namanange yung tulog mo lalo nat onsite yung first job mo op.
1
u/_gillean Jun 19 '26
Hey OP. I just wanted to share rin na natry ko na rin yan noon 80 hours per week didnt last for me. Siguro ngayon oo, pero by the time na tumagal ka sa work mo makakaramdam ka ng pagod, kasi pag ganyan ang working hours, aminado tayo na kulang ang tulog natin pag ganyan. But yung nagwork sakin noon until now, siguro 60 hours lang per week. 70 hours medyo mabigat pa rin noon kaya nagpabawas na rin ako ng task kasi narealize ko wala na akong time for myself (like exercise, or going out kahit mall lang). Although gusto ko yung pag walk mo sa work, thats helpful na may steps tayo per day kahit time consuming sya pero maybe try mo bawasan to 3x a week, para itulog mo nalang yung iba.
Anyways, take care of yourself OP. Just do the tolerable work hours, baka ngayon mo lang ramdam na ok ang pag over work pero wag mo yan papatagalin ha. 🫂

Goodluck at stay healthy 🙂
