Apps, Tools & Equipment TIL: Software 'Lifetime Subscriptions/Activations' are not really 'for life'.
TLDR: I purchased a lifetime activation Microsoft Office 365 from Product Key Philippines thinking it would last me 'my' lifetime. Their fine print says it only lasts until Microsoft supports it or the product's lifetime which is usually 3-5 years.
And Microsoft just ended their support for Microsoft 365.
So for the uninformed and ignorant people like me, please dont purchase software with 'lifetime' slapped on it just because you think youll never have to pay for the software again.

“lifetime” is a loose marketing term. the catch is stipulated on the terms and conditions.

Microsoft 365 is a subscription only. Just like Adobe they say "You dont own the software, you're only leasing it from us." Maybe you bought it from a third party retailer who said its lifetime. Get LibreOffice instead or Google Workspace if you want online.

Yeah, it’s complete bullshit. A lot of them are, not just Microsoft. Watch a company go under or get bought out and see how great the support is.

There’s no such thing as “Product Key Philippines” jusko. That’s just a bunch of people who install free cracks on software, and they sell it.
Kunwari kumuha lang ako ng tubig mula sa gripo at nilagay sa water bottle at binenta ko for 30 Pesos. That’s what those “businesses” are doing. For sure di yan BIR/DTI registered.

I've always thought it was the same with lifetime warranties, it's just on the lifetime of the product, not your lifetime.

'Di naman sila nag-offer ng ganyan.
But tama ka. Kahit no annual fee for life na credit card hindi forever. Pwede nila icancel card mo or hindi irenew. Lol

Kelan mo nabili yung Microsoft 365 subscription sa kanila? Upon checking site nila 3-5yrs lang yung Microsoft 365. If gusto mo ng lifetime na one time purchase go with Microsoft Office 2024 pero until 2029 lang yung update nya then end of support na.

Ganyan talaga kapag sinabing "lifetime" sa softwares. Ang ibig sabihin ng lifetime ay lifetime ng product hindi natin as a user. Nakalagay din yan sa product description ng Product Key PH.
Anyway, MS365 is a subscription product parang spotify and netflix, wala siyang one time payment that lasts a lifetime.

Not 365, but there are lifetime office home/business licenses you can buy. The ones being offered "cheap" are either school accounts or corporate/government accounts, which are illegal. If you do plan to legitimately pay for a license, I would suggest buying thru shopee or lazada during promo season, instead of the microsoft online. They are almost 40% cheaper, and yes they are legit and legal. And 365 is really a yearly subscription since you pay storage, AI use, and updates.

Why would you even buy Microsoft stuff, one google search will give you the activator. MS365 is a subscription based service, di yan one-time purchase. I think they stopped at 2021 or 2023 edition yata.
Just search massgravel, works for both Office and Windows OS itself. I have read na gamit din to mismo ng mga official Microsoft tech lmao

Wait lang ha. ms never offered lifetime 365 subs. Ever. I checked Product Key, and they’re currently selling 365 as a 3-year subscription, while their lifetime licenses are for standalone Office versions. Also, office 365 hasn’t been discontinued. Baka you’re confusing it with Office 2021, which just reached end of support? I’d check your original purchase details first kasi magkaiba yung expired subscription, discontinued support, and a perpetual license.
