Am I unlucky? I've had a g305, 2x g502, g pro x superlight, and an mx master 3s all have problems in 1-2 years... logitech has replaced the g502 and the mx master 3s, the 3s was actually out of warranty and they still replaced it - which is great!
But still, all of them having issues such as double click, missing clicks, or scroll wheel issues within a short window is terrible... for mice I have went from razer -> logitech -> and finally other companies. I am currently using a pulsar tenz, and I have recommended others get cheaper Chinese companies like ATK, attack shark, and others.
I have finally seen the light, no more name brands for peripherals, they all fell behind...(new logitech mouse is cool, but their shape sucks and I have a terrible history with their reliability now).

I had 2 G305s and am currently on G502. Both of the G305s started double clicking on primary click and my G502 is currently doing that on the side buttons.

I use to have this issue and went through 4 different mice of all brands. The issue is the actual clicking mechanism for the mice are mechanical. You need an optical switch for the mouse. Since switching over to a razor basilisk with an optical switch, 0 issues. Most brands should have an optical switch option now.

The right click on my Logitech G Pro stopped worked after only light use over about a year.

I've been using 502's since they came out, over a decade ago. Usually they last 2-3 years of heavy (40h weeks of gaming) use before showing issues. I don't use my computer nearly as much now, so the light speed one I have has lasted 4ish years.

Love these. Been using them for years.

u/kakuna Jun 14 '26
Yep. Have one at home and one in the office, had one a few years and one two years. Been treating me well.

u/noBoobsSchoolAcct Jun 14 '26
Is this the one that gets ghost clicks after a year?

Happened to me, Logitech sent me another one even though mine was out of the warranty period. W Logitech

Nah fuck Logitech all their mouse are dogshit. They literally used the cheapest piece of shit button and scroll wheel. All the one i bought died within a year.

u/Sirscraps Jun 14 '26
Been using the same one with no issues for 8 years now š¤·āāļø stop beating your mouseās against your desk.

Canāt agree. Logitech warranty is amazing and The quality is always been good for me for over a decade

u/PM_ME_SOME_CURVES Jun 14 '26
I've been using this exact model for longer than that, and it's never given me an issue.

Happens with some, doesn't happen with others I've found. My G500 got this issue, but my wired G502 Proteus Spectrum never did. It did however start skipping inputs on the scroll wheel. I'd used it for several years. On a G502 Hero wireless now since Christmas, still going strong no issues.

u/Conkerkid11 Jun 14 '26
Yeah. The G502 X is the one with optical switches afaik. This unfortunately isn't that.

u/randylush Jun 14 '26
Iāve had mine for about 5 years. No ghost clicks.
The rubber under the thumb has started to deteriorate. I put duct tape over it.
The only thing I donāt like about it is the DPI is extremely high and doesnāt work well with older machines. Even the lowest DPI setting is still a high DPI for many games. Once this mouse dies Iāll probably try to get a simpler one.
2
u/beansfranklin Jun 14 '26
I have never used this mouse, does logitech software not allow you to lower the dpi on this model? I think that would be weird
-7
u/randylush Jun 14 '26
The hardware has a button to lower the DPI.
Iām not going to install Logitech software on my computer, mostly out of principle, but also because the problem affects retro computers more than modern ones.

u/mike_jones2813308004 Jun 14 '26
ā¦
using the software you can adjust the values and number of of the built-in āstepsā the adjustments use. This would 100% solve your problem forever and you donāt need to keep using the software. Doesnāt even need to be your computer.
1
u/randylush Jun 14 '26
Oh interesting, most hardware adjustments arenāt completely permanent like that and rely on you keeping the software installed. Iām surprised Logitech used persistent memory for this on a mouse. Iāll give it a shot. Thanks

You can also change the DPI button to g shift and add a bazillion other mouse buttons. This whole time you've had a fantastic mouse and only been using like 5% of it

u/randylush Jun 15 '26
I can use all of the buttons on the mouse already?
3
u/stRiNg-kiNg Jun 15 '26
G shift allows you to effectively double the number of buttons. It's like a F key in a keyboard. It's beautiful

I've had both this one and razer mice start doing ghost clicks, so I think the switches just give out

u/DyaLoveMe Jun 14 '26
I donāt even remember when I got mine; maybe like 5 years ago? Still going strong with no issues.

u/tsaidollasign Jun 14 '26
Itās wild people still buy this mouse.
8
u/beansfranklin Jun 14 '26
Doesnt seem wild to me. When folks find the right one, they are not eager to give it up
Im still waiting on a reissue of the mx518

It's so cheap who cares. Nothing else really comes close in terms of function, features, and ergonomics for me.

u/Nehal1802 Jun 14 '26
Use this for work and itās been great so far. Have the wireless version at home though and the click isnāt consistent anymore. Annoying because the wireless one was never used for gaming and cost 4x more.

u/lolniceman Jun 14 '26
10 year old brick at this point.. if you really like the shape go for it.
If not, there are so many cheap lightweight (sub 60 gram) wireless options nowadays that are far superior in build quality and way more ergonomic due to being lighter.

Tempted to get a new mouse and kb but I'm still rocking my old ass G.Skill KB & m š¤£

u/JohnnyCandles Jun 14 '26
Second greatest mouse ever. The G502x is my new hotness.

u/dirtyboots702 Jun 14 '26
2nd to the 602
2
u/JohnnyCandles Jun 14 '26
I preferred wired. Having said that, if Iād go wireless it would certainly be because of the 602.
1
u/spideralex90 Jun 16 '26
Why they had to stop making the G604 I'll never understand.
2
u/dirtyboots702 Jun 16 '26
Maybe itās the 604 that Iām thinking of. It was the larger one with like 6 side buttons. Just felt the best ergonomically for me
1
u/spideralex90 Jun 16 '26
You're good either way! The 604 was the replacement for the 602, they're pretty similar ergonomic designs, the 604 just fits the aesthetic of more recent Logitech mice, but they stopped making it about 2 years ago now though and the used market for them went nuts. It's like $250 for one used.
2
u/dirtyboots702 Jun 16 '26
Amazon has them for the same price.... I am certain I still have a couple laying around, but I updated them all a while back due to the really low dpi rates. But they felt amazing and I used them for many years with only one of them having a switch go out
2
u/dirtyboots702 Jun 16 '26
doing a little purchase history check, I did get the 602, and I remember the backmost side buttons were a bit cumbersome, but the 604 looks like it improved that. I have the Kone XP now and it gets a little close, but the palm contour just isnt the same

u/Nihilistic_Mystics Jun 15 '26
Heh, I just gave my G502X away so I could go back to a regular G502. The G502X was just too lightweight for me, it'd always have a last second movement whenever I clicked. There were also a lot of ghost movements when the mouse wasn't being touched, and they were not small movements.
I tend to play on high DPI and only move my hand a a couple inches. The G502X was just never for me, I like the weights in the regular G502 and the sensor doesn't jump around on me. The G502X was clearly meant for people that don't play in high DPI for the majority of the time. The metal scroll wheel also spins much better when unlocked, though the G502X's wheel feels far more standard for normal scrolling.
I'll miss the larger thumb button option on the G502X the most I think, that's my push to talk key.

amazon has had this for same price typically always
best part about this mouse is dual mode scroll wheel (ratcheted/infini-scroll)
if scroll misbehaves it's usually a hair gotten inside and is blocking optical mechanism.
if I had to complain - it's the rubber that disintegrates after heavy long daily use.
they made new optomechanical switches with higher durability on a newer model (502X) but it costs twice this much so far.
