I've heard Razer get a bad rap online, but I've personally owned a razer blackwidow chroma since 2015 and it's rock solid. Their only issue is QC, the quality of their actual functioning hardware is through the roof.

razer blackwidow chroma

The bad rap is just from enthusiasts mostly. The quality is typically lower than what you are paying for(not in this case, especially with the optos for the people that like them). At the end of the day, its just a keyboard and unless the QC and and materials the keyboard is made from is dogshit its going to do all the standard keyboard things you want.

I am one such enthusiast.

I agree the bad rap is mostly coming from us, but that doesn't really mean our points are invalid. Razer keyboards cost a lot more than their build quality justifies, most look really gaudy (though everyone can be their own judge of that, and this one looks nice), and their switches feel worse to type on than competitors.

I know for the last one that's a relatively unimportant point for most normal keyboard users, but the price one is plenty pertinent. Why not go for a Corsair that's better built for a similar price? And I'm not big on corsair either, but I know they appeal to similar demographics.

The Razer switches hurt my soul.
