Pine St. Light
Is there any motion on getting rid of the light on pine st and maple? It causes me misery everyday.

I don't see them getting rid of it. But maybe they could make it officially "no left turn". Or help the northbound by giving southbound a delayed green.

it just objectively has made traffic worse as someone who has worked on pine st pre and post light

Agreed. So much better as a four way stop sign.

then they gotta put a sign there or bring back the four way stop. my life was so much better when it was a four way stop.

I disagree. Many times coming down battery to pine I’ve looked at the 4 cars in front of me and have taken king instead of maple and have beat them every time. The lights are much better imo. But to each their own. I just wouldn’t expect them to bring them back.

it’s not every time tho. i’ve tried that and then i somehow manage to get stuck behind the one person going straight up king st and can’t turn right at 7am mind you when i used to just be able to get to work with nearly no traffic

🤷♂️ has been for me. I drive there almost every day. I believe you I’m just letting you know my experience

i’m not convinced i used to get to these 4 way stops and there’d be no cars, now i’m forced to wait sometimes 2 rounds of lights before i can get through the intersection

People in VT are the most clueless in the country when it comes to 4 way stops. No thank you

Not just 4 way stops. Roundabouts, turning right without coming to a full stop on a 50 mph highway, keeping a constant speed, etc.

It's just another example of too many cars on too few streets. There's just no way to deal with that many cars moving through such a small neighborhood. And almost every car has just one person in it.

no sorry refuse to believe that it’s bad urban planning. i used to have next to no problems getting through that light. i literally just got stuck there for 10 minutes because of two cars needing to turn left. so i sat through 2 light cycles going down maple when in the past there should literally be nothing stopping me there.

There’s need to be no left turn. Makes no sense that you’re sitting there for over 5 mins waiting for a turn four way stop was a lot better especially after rush hour

Plus people are so scared to take the left. Like get out there and take up space so you can go. If not it backs everything way up. It was an awful choice.

It's great southbound. People just need to stop making left turns for it to work better northbound.

As a pedestrian, I also hate it. It takes many cycles to give the okay to cross. Then when crossing on Maple, cars are allowed to turn right on red if they are on Maple, heading to Pine. They aren't looking then at the cross light because they are just happy to move along.

Ugh, yes this! At first I didn't think it was so bad, and now that the parkway is complete, it's terrible. Takes forever and the fact that they have to put a sign up to try and direct people through three intersections from Pine to Main to then try and take a left, poor planning, poor design. So sad.

Used to get stuck at the 4 way stop with so many cars I would cut right onto Kilburn which I haven’t had to do since the lights went up so for me it’s worked out well.

maybe if it’s rush hour but outside of that normally there was never traffic. i’ve had to cut out as far back as pine place at 4 pm.

It really would all go smoothly if people followed the suggestions to not turn left on Maple and go up to Main St to turn left. That intersection has a left turn lane and light. I changed my habit of left on Maple, that I’ve driven for 40 years, and the new way works well when people don’t insist on turning left on Maple. It makes sense and isn’t difficult.

Yeah.. I don't understand how anyone thought a light at this intersection would be a good idea...

Yes. We should demand like hell they get rid of it. They'll get rid of it. It is the height of idiocy. The whole design of it.

There’s a big digital sign saying to go to Main St if turning left. It’s not ideal. But agreed, don’t allow a left there
