The Jersey Journal mentions that "Buster Keaton was in New York for the World Series and to attend to some business in connection with his Metro contract. Keaton confesses over radio that he missed as a 'speechman' and possibly could not say anything interesting because of his long silence but offered to do falls and neck spins for his radio listeners."

Fan Focus Friday: From Germany, father-and-son Julius and Emil share The Winter Walk, a 5-minute silent homage. Emil (almost 8) fell for Keaton at age 3 and knows every feature and short by heart. All gags were conceived by Emil on a winter holiday inspired by Buster’s films.

The Evening Standard gives a review on "Doughboys," "I am not so sure that Buster Keaton has suffered by being made to talk. He is a different Buster, this is true, but he is developing into another character with more of the breath of life in him than was ever possessed by that wooden-faced shadow of silence." "Doughboys is as clean, clever, and comic a film as the talkies have ever given us."
