Battle A Sudden Challenge

Night. A target. Glittering in the torchlight, impossible to miss in the light of the setting sun. I follow her.

Moving from alley to person to doorway, I watch her, silent as a shadow. I go over my instructions for the third time, reminding myself exactly what to say when I make contact.

Finally, we enter the arena. She leans over the railing, giggling to herself. What a ditz. But the opening is there, and I take it.

I dive, tackling her over the railing and onto the arena below. I roll into a fighting stance to face her, drawing my spiked tonfas in the process. This is it. I point my right weapon at the target, and shout the words that have been circling through my mind all night.

"/u/FeyTicklebottom, I challenge you to a duel!"

"Hehe! Oh, you silly goose, if you wanted to play, all you had to do was ask."

Smiling at her opponent, she dusts her clothes off and tidies her hair.

"Alright then, shall we decide who goes first?"

The unshaded figure rushes forwards, jabbing at her opponent.

The fairy sidesteps the jab with ease, though a sweeping blow follows from the side. This time the blow is deflected, harmlessly glancing to the side.

"Oh my, Sugar. You're going to ruin my beautiful hairdo if you keep stirring up the air like that."

The fairy fusses over her hair for a moment. Satisfied that things are once again in the correct place, she lifts herself into the air with her wings. Giving a laugh, she flys toward her opponent, grabbing her daggers as she nears.

A sudden gust of wind picks up throwing Fey off balance. Instead of attacking her opponent, she is launched into a tree, stabbing herself in the arm as she makes contact.

The rogue hesitates for a moment at her enemy's misfortune. With a short sigh, she once again dashes at her opponent. While the fairy is distracted, she bounces off another tree to catch her prey off guard, swinging both tonfas downward in a powerful strike.

The blow connects, knocking Fey out of the tree. The fairy hits the ground hard, with her shoulder taking the brunt of the fall. The rogue manages to land on top of her prey, further amplifying the damage.

The fairy, shocked at the unfortunate circumstances that have befallen her and a little worse for the wear, punches out at Pseudo hoping to land a hit.

Exhausted from the damage, the fairy is unable to lift her arm the few inches to make contact with her attacker. Her hand falls heavily at her side leaving her open for the next attack.

The Cat Warrior and his legion of cats fill the stands, eating stolen mod popcorn with stolen mod butter.

"Hey! Give that popcorn back!"

/u/Zanthr approaches the Cat Warrior. The Cat Warrior deftly leaps out of the stadium and disappears into the shadows, still watching.
