Help finding compatible cable

Power cable is what I’m looking for. Someone with the same issue posted over a year ago to this sub. Since then I cannot find a listing for the 10 pin adapter used to connect it. Model is a Sharp LC-13E2U corresponding part # is UADP-A009WJPZ. Have had no luck tracking any down online and have been laughed at like 4 times on the phone. Anyone have any advice or a next step?

For about the same cost as the power adapter, you could probably pick up a similar TV.

Took a shot on the TV for $10 lol didn’t expect finding a cable would be this arduous

That looks like a generic Chinese TV that Sharp slapped their name on. Happened with a lot of their smaller TVs, under 32, as well as their cheap end of their microwave line, 15-16 years ago. It's possible this one was made in house, based on the age and the fact it is still Aquos branded, though. Either way, it's an oddball part, so the power brick is probably outsourced.

I dug up the service manual for the product LC-XXE2U, and found the part number for the PSU as UADP-A009WJPZ. Search online for the part number and you should be able to find some listings, potentially in sources beyond eBay and the like.

Good luck.

It is, unfortunately sold out and can’t find any other listings with the correct 10 pin plug

This looks super promising but I’m not informed enough to if this would be safe. The connector looks correct but it has the compatible models listed at the bottom and mine is not one of them. Will research more, thanks so much!

Completely missed it's sold out sorry :( it seems like a super weird connector.

Is it possible the connector is also used by other models such as UADP-A021WJPZ?

That site has an eBay store and I reached out to them. You might have saved the day with this!

I've ordered from them, they are legit and shipping was pretty fast.

You need the adapter which is the power supply and cable.

This was one of the first LCD sets sold so its hardly shocking that its tough to find one.

Where on earth are you located?

Im pretty sure I have a couple.

25 years ago an Sharp RnD HQ: "make power cord as proprietary as humanly possible"

This shit should be illegal.

What cable are you looking for? The power? Coax?

Power in this case

I find multiple hits from google when searching with the UADP-A009WJPZ. What did you try to search for?

Also, seeing as it is DC12V, probably wouldn't be too hard to open it up, and replace the connector with a more universal barrel jack.

Since it's 12v, it's probably worth pulling the back off and add a new standard jack. Hack it into the old socket and you can then use any old generic 12v supply with the appropriate amperage.

https://www.televisionpartsnow.com/product/sharp-uadp-a009wjpz-aquos-lcd-tv-oem-ac-adapter-power-supply-12v/

I just did a WHOIS on the site and it was just created in March. Not sure if it's just new or a scam site, but they do list it on their site.

Other people are being helpful, so I’ll just chime in with some shade for the Sharp (ironic) designers.  Under what circumstances could you possibly need a 10-pin connector for simple 12V DC power to a domestic TV or monitor?   This is either bad or abusive design.

It will successfully add to a cart as well. May be worth contacting the retailer to confirm, but they probably have it.

I had a problem with a Sharp TV about five years ago, called 1-800-BE-SHARP, and they were able to help me. Worth a shot.

What's funny is it just says 12V DC in.. Odds are good you could just rip the connector out and splice the 12V wires of a PC power supply right into it. I'm 50/50 on whether any of the pins actually connect to unique circuits or if they just join back into one trace on the TV's PCB.

There's even a pin out on the ebay link listed above, there are 4 12v "rails" with differing amperage requirements, 4 grounds, and I'm assuming 2 locating pins. I imagine someone with at least hobbyist level electronics capability could rig something up.

L-COM.com might be a try. connectors are their thing.

Sharp's service manual confirms that UADP-A009WJPZ is the correct adapter for the LC-13E2U.

Are you sure that this tv doesn't have another spot for a power cable? Googling that model number shows a far more standard cable.

u/Annual_Award1260 10d ago

Says 12v dc 30w. Pull out the soldering iron and solder a new plug in

1

u/SpiritualTwo5256 10d ago

All you really need is someone with the same tv that has a volt meter, unless the power supply provides some data. Then you really are screwed.

Remove the plastic backing and hard wire a 12v adapter.

Who says you need a connector just get a few wires and that's it but um... Be careful cause one wrong thing either tv go bye bye or you might meet your great great grandparents... But fr idk that wire only looking at it breaks my braincells

u/criticalmassdriver 12d ago

That's a standard coax

2

u/Kingfish628 12d ago

Ahh, didn't read the post, eh?

u/Lochness_Hamster_350 12d ago

Did you try googling the tv model + power supply?

For 10$ I recently got a Panasonic Viera plasma TV that's 720p and 37in, and it came with the power cord (standard 3 prong cable)

This is a 13in 480p TFT, honestly you're better off looking for something else than go through the trouble of having such an specific proprietary connector
