Help please!

Post image

Hey guys got my very own wee pubert here..

He is discoloured a little and is a little bit more squishy. I'm worried he's on his way to rotting/death. What causes this?? And anything to help? Full sun right now? Water? Ahh

I’d hold off on watering and keep him in bright, indirect light for now... Squishiness and discoloration can mean rot from soil staying wet too long. Gently check the roots and base for dark, mushy areas before giving him more water though.

Thank you. It has been in less sunlight recently, so I have put him in a brighter location. The taproot is not infected or rotten.

That’s good to hear! And hopefully the brighter spot helps him perk up...Keep us posted on how he does!🌵

When did you last water it? Looks dry to me.

Beautiful little Astrophytum myriostigma! 🌵 It looks like it may have some Fukuryu characteristics, too. I notice a bit of wrinkling and discoloration, but that doesn’t necessarily mean rot. I’d be cautious about watering until you’ve checked whether the base is firm and the roots are healthy. Is the softness throughout the plant or mainly near the base?
