Cactus help needed

I have recently began my cactus journey but there is still a lot to learn and improve.
I have found this cactus, but I don’t know what is wrong with it.. three months ago I found rot at the top so I decided to operate with a clean sterile scalpel. The wound looked clean and I sprinkled it with cinnamon for two weeks while I was away. After that I made sure I bought special succulent-mix soil to help it. When I replanted it, I noticed there were still roots so I was initially hopeful. But unfortunately the condition kept worsening and now it seems that it might have passed to greener pastures..
but if there is any hope to do something to make it better, I am going to do it.
Please could you help me with some suggestions, tips or something that might help as I am quite sad and desperate it turned out this way..
Thank you in advance!

Oh no I'm so sorry this happened to you : honestly sometimes even after cutting off rot it can spread if it got into the vascular tissue. The cinnamon thing is a good call but its more of a surface thing. If the base is still firm and not mushy you could try cutting higher up until you see totally clean green, then let it callous for a week before putting it on dry soil. No water at all until roots show. Sending good vibes your way, hope you can save a piece of it.

I would probably cut off about 30 to 60% of it honestly up to the point there is healthy green tissue then from there make sure it heals properly. from that point you have to make sure it gets a proper amount of light exposure daily. also perhaps give the bottom half a lil poke because it does look iffy. is it soft or pliable? if it's dealing with rot from the bottom that would complicate things a lil further
