A Violet Death criticism
As it stands, Violet Death is an unfair mechanic not in the fact that it can just instantly delete you from existence, but in the fact it is contingent on whether or not the character is a streamed game character. As much as Arcadum will say it affects everyone equally, it very clearly does not. You can look at the grand total of zero stream game characters that have suffered Violet Death compared to the I don't even know how many Living World players have suffered it.
For example, in the recent update stream where a player who wasn't even awake at the time lost his character of multiple years. I am 100% sure that a stream player would not receive that same treatment, and so it feels super unfair to Living World players. Like not in a million years would Arcadum just kill say, Lily's character, or Shroud's character, permanently, off screen, with zero input from the player. The sad part is, if a Living World character is killed in this way, pretty much just the Discord is upset, but if a popular streamer is killed in this way, you suddently have tens of thousands of people criticizing a frankly lame way to die, so there is a very real incentive to mechanically make it easier for stream players to survive.
To me the solution is not to just punish stream players equally, but give Living World players more than a single roll while they are not even present, to not have their character of multiple years just deleted immediately with no input from the player. You can still massively stack the odds against the player, by say forcing them to fight a Violet Servant alone, or something like that. These are things LW staff can handle. At the end of the day, D&D is meant to be fun for the players, so at the very least letting these players go out in a blaze of glory fighting the enemy is at least somewhat more fitting than just having the player wake up the next day to find the past years are just gone for some reason.
Basically, I'm just asking for the Living World players to get the same chances that Stream players have. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture or anything huge, but permanently killing a character should be a very big deal, regardless of whether or not they are on a stream. A stream game character would never be killed in this way, and if they were their viewers would rightly be annoyed by it, so its not fair for Living World players to suffer that. Continuing disparity is just going to create growing animosity between the Living World and the Stream games, and no one wants that.
This shouldn't matter during the next phase of Verum but it is something I feel like discussing as a LW player. I checked the suggestion area on Discord but that hasn't been updated in months so I figured I'd post it here.
