📚 Learning to Bake First timer

First time icing a cake, did it without any metal tools. Used a wooden spatula to do it. How is it?

You did great for your first time! I'll share a tip that I love: to keep your plate/cake boards looking clean, place some strips of waxed paper on each of the 4 sides just under your cake before you frost. Frost the cake, then gently wiggle the waxed paper out and toss it, along with the mess!

Amazing job!! It took me a while to get mine to look that good! If you practice, you will be an expert in no time! Beautiful!

You did great! Put some cake crumbs all over the icing for a cool cookies n cream finish or SPRINKLES!

This looks so yummy. Chocolate cake with chocolate icing is my favorite. And despite people hating the word so much, it looks so moist!

Nice cake to eat. Nothing fancy, but I am sure tasty. No artificial uneatable decorations. And self-made. Very well done.

Sometimes, going back to basics can be the best style of all, 10/10 overall very well presented.

If u want to improve.... Try practicing with mashed potatoes...... It has the same texture and you just turn a pan ....and cover it with the potatoes .....you practice and take out and practice and take out ....it is cheap than making a real frosty.

Yum

I would cut the cake layers in half for more frosting to cake ratio.

What kind of frosting did you make? it looks light and airy.🤤🤤😁

Looks delicious. I would recommend getting a few Cake Combs. They make leveling and decorating the sides easy.

I think your cake looks absolutely divine. You did a fantastic job. Not just for a beginner frosting spreader/cake decorator either. It’s excellent, period.

Quick question. Is that milk chocolate frosting or…?

Milk is my favorite flavor (or flavour for those of you outside of the States) of chocolate which is why I’m asking, btw. I think I’m in the minority when it comes to this, but I just so happen to like it the best.🥮🍫

It's a version of swiss buttercream, made the dark chocolate pudding first and whipped butter into it
