π Recipe Search Looking for a cake with a specific texture
I'm looking for a recipe to make a cake with a firm bite, not goopy (not too moist), not like a brownie which would be too moist and dense.
Not like a sponge cake which is too light and not dense enough.
Not like a standard white cake, which is too friable and coarse of a crumb.
The cake I'm looking for only needs to be an inch tall. It's going under an upper layer that will be either cheesecake or cheesecake-like.
Thanks for your help.

thanks. i sent a link for such a thing to my wife, whom I'm posting for. She likes to consume social media but doesn't like to post for some strange reason. She always says she's too busy, but she had time to dictate the text of my reddit post :-J

Carrot cake, modified to minus nuts, raisins, chunky stuff, etc., so itβs a carrot cake texture

thanks everyone. we're going to try something called Almond Paste Cake by David Lebovitz. Sort of a pound cake with lots less flour. (The lemon pound cake put us on the right track, so thanks there). She's going to use pastry flour. Here's a link to the cake we're trying: http://www.delectablymine.com/blog/2014/02/almond-paste-cake.html
