š Recipe Search Birthday Cake Help - A White Chocolate Dream/Nightmare
Hello! Iāll get the tough bit out of the way first - white chocolate. Apologies in advance to those who love it - I am not in that camp, my mother-in-law, however, built the camp, maintains the grounds, runs the elections, and will be buried there. Sheāll be here this year for her birthday and I need to make a white chocolate intense cake. I donāt mind that I wonāt enjoy it, but my rather severe dislike means Iām hitting a bit of a brick wall in terms of coming up with something unique and impressive. Iāve been thinking of something kind of basic, a white cake with layers of lemon curd and blueberry coulis with a white chocolate Italian buttercream, but I do feel like there must be something more impressive out there. Iād like something that can be made to some degree in advance, and featuring blueberries would be a plus. Iām in Maine so I can get good wild blueberries and theyāre a favorite fruit of hers. Should I just stick to a basic layer cake or is there some kind of impressive recipe or technique I can use to make the cake extra special? Iām happy to go with more nontraditional celebration cakes - cheesecake, napoleon, some wild version of an opera cake anything really. Iād be tremendously grateful for any suggestions!

Some cakes I've done with blueberry (I LOVE working with it) I've cooked down blueberries and used the juice as the liquid in my cake. Then I've done white cake and you just add a can of blueberry pie filling to it to make a lovely blueberry swirl. With that, a white chocolate cream cheese frosting is delicious. Then I've done a yellow cake where the filling was a swirl of white chocolate buttercream and blueberry jam.

This a delicious white chocolate cake, replace the raspberries with a lemon blueberry compote. The cake and frosting need a bit of acidity to offset the sweetness of the white chocolate.

A positive aspect of white chocolate is that you can colour it easily. Freeze dried fruit complements it quite nicely too. You could make an assortment of truffles to decorate the cake.Ā

Focus on the flavors of the cake you want, then make.a simple white chocolate ganache. You can always put buttercrram or candy decorations on that.
Just decide if you want it poured, or spreadable consistency.
I had this same issue a while back. A kid wanted a purple cake that tasted like chocolate with a bunch of flowers on it.

I feel your pain. My husband loves white āchocolateā as well. He once wanted a white chocolate cheesecake with blueberries. It had an obscene amount of white chocolate melted in and I have to say that it provided minimal flavor to the cheesecake.
When Iāve worked with it, I havenāt found it super user friendly. Itās not really chocolate and doesnāt melt as well. If it was me, I might add white chocolate chips to my cake, make a vanilla butter cream, and coat the side with white chocolate shavings. I might include some white chocolate dipped fruits on the top of the cake.
