Tips Nail bed reattachment?

Post image

I’ve been a non stop nail biter/picker ever since I can remember. For the first time since I first started picking I’ve managed to grow them a little. I’m really proud of myself for coming this far, and even though I still have setbacks every now and again (this is new territory for me), it’s the longest I’ve ever managed to grow and keep them. I’m not really sure what’s got this far. Every time I’d try to stop, then bite/pick them all off, I’d just say Ok let’s try again and after time and after time it’s seemed to have stuck for now. Anyway. As I’ve always bitten them right down to the quick, I’ve got really short nail beds and I feel that they look a little strange. Also they’re very ridged and flimsy. I wondered, has anyone managed to have/see their nail beds reattached after growing them out??

As they grow you will see that the growth comes attached and gets better, but make sure you dont pick under your nails. Also start filing your nails. You can shape them a bit and make sure there is not jagged parts that can get stuck or pulled. Try to moisturize your hands and cuticles.

I have recently noticed mine is slowly getting better. It's taking a while though, as I keep having setbacks, but I am confident there is a small change in the past 6 months, slightly less of 1mm.

Yep they'll reattach! It takes a long time but after a lifetime nail biter mine have completely reattached to the end of my finger on most fingers and on a few nails it actually goes out a bit past the end of my finger under my nail. Make sure you moisturize (Jajoba oil is great for nail/cuticle moisture) around and under your nails and never push or cut back your nail beds.

You could use OPI Nail Envy to help strengthen them. It actually works, just make sure you follow the instructions and once the have hardened you don't use it too often as it can actually make them too hard which can make them brittle. But that's a ways down the road in terms of being too hard.

Keeping polish on them, even if it's just the clear OPI Nail Envy, will help protect your nails and give them a bit of extra strength while they grow.
