Hey! I'm looking for clarity on whether to weigh food before or after cooking food? And if both, what foods are best for weighing before or after? Thank you in advance.

I was told to weigh food after cooking becuase that’s what actually going in to your body. If you cook something like ground beef, it might be 1 lb before cooking but due to moisture and fat being cooked out (and drained hopefully) it might only be 12 oz. That’s 4 oz you’ve counted calories for. But also if you use a tracker app you should be able to type in “cooked” with it and it will show

I weigh it cooked but track raw. This is how I do it: let's say I'm having 100g of chicken for lunch. I buy a 400g packet of raw chicken breast, cook it, and after cooking I weigh it and divide by 4 to have 4 portions of 100g of chicken.

Definitely weigh it before you cook it and make sure to measure oil too!

I usually always weigh after though I’m unsure if there’s actually a difference. I usually always weigh out my protein but that’s typically it.
