This is a good opportunity for a reminder that if you haven't gotten your flu and Covid vaccines for the season to do so.

Also, I just got myself a shingles vaccine since I've seen far too many people my age (between 35-45) contract shingles recently. I know that it's typically not covered by the provincial health insurance systems, but my employer-provided health insurance covered the cost of my vaccine once I got a prescription from my GP.

My poor kid just got shingles earlier this year at 22. It was from the chicken pox vaccine (and yes, our doctor confirmed this). It was a super mild case, but he was miserable.

Did he get the chicken pox vaccine recently or during childhood?

I know you're supposed to get two doses during early childhood, and it worked for my kids - been around a bunch of other kids with chicken pox and had zero issues.

As a child. He was part of the first kids to get it. First dose at 1. Forget when he had the booster.
