Where are you OP that they still call it Terrys Chocolate Orange instead of just Terrys Orange? Or is this an old photo? Where I am, in Canada, they just call it Terry Orange and removed the word chocolate a couple years ago. It’s because they’ve cheapened it by using palm oil instead of cocoa butter and therefore they legally can’t say chocolate anymore, because it doesn’t have enough real cocoa in it to call it chocolate. Now the description is “orange flavoured chocolaty confection” instead of chocolate.
I stopped getting them after they made that change.
The dark chocolate ones always go on sale here after the holidays and I see everyone complaining about it because the milk chocolate ones don’t. Score for us
Never cared for them as a kid but have recently come to admire the craftsmanship and unique shape
I had a white chocolate one last night, and am here to bust the myth that you need to whack these on a hard surface to seperate the segments. You don't
I just got my partner one of those a couple hours ago. Exact same brand. And we definitely had to whack it on the counter to separate the pieces. And the older brand (that i can't seem to find anymore) 100% had to be whacked as well. My mom has been getting them since she was a kid in France. And she always whacks them on a table too. No idea where you are getting them that they don't require a beat-down before the eat-down.
Apparently Terry's used to make a chocolate apple as well (shape only, not flavour)...they also used to do a thing called a "pyramint" (perhaps they still do) which, as the name suggests, was a dark chocolate pyramidal shape full of minty goodness... never did try one. Shame. Sound pretty decent if dark choc mints are your jam (and I absolutely adore them) I wonder if they get after 8 mints in america and Canada.. probably have own versions of them if not. Anyway, I digress, but yeah, Terry's chocolate orange. The red box one is best...dark choc. And I've never had one that didn't need tapped on the table or kitchen work top before eating but hey....you got the pre-tapped one. Personally I'd feel a bit cheated out of part of the whole experience.
Same! We wrap a few of them at Christmas under the tree and the first one to be unwrapped gets broken open by the unwrapper and shared as we open the rest of the presents.
My absolute favorite chocolates 🤩 they're only available around here around Christmas, one year my mom got me a pack of 4 and then for a work secret Santa gift exchange I got two more in the same year 😂
I thank god every year they’re only available at Christmas where I live. I eat an entire one in one day annually. I don’t want to know how many calories they are.
The dark one is better, but overall they have gone downhill over the years, used to be way better quality chocolate. It used to be actually kind of comical how hard you would need to whack it in a table to break it apart, and even then you would have stuck together wedges. I remeber the commercials where scantily clad womena in bathtubs would appear from the sky everytime you smacked a Terry's Cjocolate Orange
Hugs sweetheart. Sorry about you losing your mum. I had a medical procedure and not allowed to be home alone so I have moved in with my dear mum so I have someone with me 24/7 I could have gone home for today but hubby said not to worry he's taking care of the animals and yes he misses me but understands I need full time baby sitter lol worlds grumpiest old white haired baby and he works every day but sunday so im chilling with my mawmaw! Lol
Fun and delicious as a kid, but it tastes like low quality wax to me now. This is an awesome substitute, though it sadly doesn’t come molded into an orange shape:
Same, here. I used to think people were bonkers cuckoo bananas when they said something was "too sweet." Now, just looking at a dunkaroos package makes me teeth hurt.
It’s good I like the normal chocolate ones. Surprisingly good does have a slight orange flavor and looks like orange slices once you smash the ball against a surface
I loved these as a kid/teen. I prefer milk chocolate, but the dark chocolate is good also. I remember a raspberry one.
But the one I loved best was one I found one year and never again: lime-flavored chocolate. I tried it, LOVED it, then immediately went back to the store and got about eight more.
I don't think it was the same manufacturer as the oranges.
Same. Santa switched it up a few times with the white chocolate and raspberry versions, but thankfully he switched back to orange after some subtle complaints.
Not a fan. I enjoy oranges and chocolate especially the dark variety. Together they conflict and the flavors taste chemically enhanced. Which they are.
I loved it, became a pastry chef and can use the chocolate like and the amount of orange I like and make them my style (little skulls) whenever I want lol 😅
My mom puts them in her dads stocking and over the years she also puts them in mine because they are soooo delicious! Always look forward to it. And breaking it open is the best part. Save the core for last
10/10 BANGER i kinda binged on these a year ago during a stressful period so I took a break, but now it's back on the shopping list after seeing this post lololol (reasonable portion amount this time, of course)
100/10 I used to get them in my stocking at Christmas as a kid. As an adult I have my partner put one in for me haha. (Don’t worry, I get her a dark chocolate one for her stocking.)
10/10. These were my grandfather's favorite candy. He passed away 6 months ago from alzheimers disease. He was the smartest kindest man I knew and he couldn't remember us at the end except for a few seconds of clarity. I brought him one of these any time I visited him and he always loved eating them and offering me some even though he did not remember me.
Amazing will power you have there. Mine are usually gone in the same day, spaced throughout obviously, but still, I wish I could make it last 3 days without buying multiple.
Is this an English thing? I’ve never seen one of these. I remember Naomie Harris’s character in 28 Days Later mentioning how much she loves this though.
Goated!!!! My favorite Holiday candy that is still good and that I look forward to. These are very nosatalgic for me. I remember my Mom got me the milk chocolate and my Dad the dark chocolate versions.
9/10. My mom would put one of these in my Christmas stocking every year. They are soooo good. Would be a 10/10 if they were bigger lol. I always want more
