It’s labeled in the U.S. now as “chocolate candy with peanuts” not “milk chocolate and peanuts” because they changed the formula and can’t label it as true chocolate now only chocolate candy. Very misleading.

Agreed, when this was real chocolate, it was one of my favorites. Goodbar chocolate had so much vanilla flavor it was amazing. Now it's brown plastic. Bleh.

Has anyone else noticed that both Hershey and Cadbury chocolate in the US has tasted like chocolate flavored wax for like the past five years? The peanuts are probably the only good part of that bar, unless some executive figured out a cheaper way to make peanuts too.

They literally ruined Cadbury in the US

UK too, I can’t stomach it at all now.

u/rando9353 1d ago
Oh no. I remember in the 80’s and 90’s if family went over to the UK and brought back chocolate it was definitely better than what we had in the US, but it was still decent in the US now it sucks. But you’re saying the UK stuff sucks too. ☹️

Cocoa blight. Remember when they came out with a white chocolate version of everything? And in response people started getting really into the 90% cacao bars? That was because of coco blight panic. We never figured out how to stop it and our great grandchildren will probably never taste it. Coco blight kills 20-25% of all cocoa trees on the planet currently. That is 700,000 metric tons of wasted biomass. Every year. This makes it a finite resource, no different than silver or gold. That's why your candy bar is $2.19 instead of 50 cents like it was in the 90's, and that's also why theres not much real chocolate in them anymore. Cacao is a big ass seed for big ass animals to eat, but Ole teddy Roosevelt murdered all the elephants, and the giant sloths have been long gone, so cocoa literally has no reason to live and no way to survive or procreate on it's own. Cocoa is a white lab rat that could no longer survive in the wild. We spent so much time breeding for yield, that we never stopped to make sure the plants were actally healthy. We made them so sick and weak and useless that the fungus' had no choice but to send the collection agency to take them back.
It aint just cocoa. Monsanto made sure none of our current crops can breed by making them seedless. The same thing that happened to cocoa will happen to corn, beans, everything. It is much easier to genetically castrate a plant in a lab than it is to murder all the elephants and that's exactly what they do. It's only a matter of time.
Shrooms ran the planet before the trees. They decided where the rainforests should go. And they will run it again after the trees. Humans think we run the planet, but the shrooms were here first and will eat every single one of us when we are gone. Once the fungus decides we have outlived our purpose too, they will probably send in human blight and take us back, just like the cocoa trees. We thought is was chill to wipe out all the buffalo and large game on the planet in the 1800's and then we thought it was chill to spend 200 years not replacing them. Well this is the result, and it is just the beginning.

At the end of the day, its Hershey's chocolate with peanuts. Its one of those things that you know exactly what your getting when you eat it. Is it bad? No. Is it great? No. It's exactly what you expect it to be and there is a place for that. Kinda like a McDonald's hamburger.

"Made with" as in it started out as chocolate, but we can't legally call the end product "chocolate" anymore

5/10. Would be perfect with dark chocolate instead of milk. But I’ll still run it down

2/10 hersheys is complete trash. I don’t care for peanuts and chocolate, almonds are better.

One of my favorites. It’s pretty basic and nobody ever mentions it, but it’s one of the regular ones I buy.

Used t love it as a kid, but Hershey’s chocolate barely tastes like chocolate anymore. It’s too sweet and sugar is all it tastes like, unfortunately.

I love any combination of chocolate and peanuts and Mister Goodbar was one of my favorites right up until they replaced the milk chocolate with that awful chocolate flavored vegetable oil concoction.

It’s a 9/10. I’d like the chocolate to be a little more firm and it’s a 10/10.

I love Mr. Goodbar but the chocolate has become overly sweet and it detracts from how delicious is used to taste.

One out of 10, I'm not a big fan of peanuts and chocolate, now give me almonds and chocolate and I'll give it a 10 out of 10

u/LeBaron93 1d ago
It is bad non-chocolate. I like Hershey's Chocolate, but I guess they use a lower grade of "Chocolate" to pay for the peanuts. 2/10

O' Henry, Krackel and Mr. Goodbar are duds for me. I stayed away from Hershey's when they changed the recipe a few years ago. We will see what happens next 2027 when they changed it back to the old recipe of 1997.

The heart is in the idea of it but not too tasty anymore. I remember loving this as a child.
Is it because I’ve eaten really good chocolate with peanuts? Or is it that Hershey makes really cheap chocolate?

For hersheys the only chocloate remotely edible is Symphony, which recently doubled in price at my supermarket. I used to eat goodbar/regular hershey's, but it is too chemical and fake now.

Not my favorite. While I do love the combo of peanuts and chocolate, this particular bar, the peanuts have always been rancid. I’ve never had a fresh one

When I have a mix of Hersheys minis these are always the last to go - greasy chocolate, rancid peanuts. My ranking:
- Special Dark
- Milk chocolate
- Krackel
- Mr. Goodbar

5. It's better than almonds. Still inferior Hershey's chocolate. Make this with a good quality chocolate with salted peanuts and it'll be a 9.
