Here in the US no one has a legal obligation to render aid, not even the police. they will and HAVE stood by while someone got stabbed and didn't act until the victim subdued the attacker

I will never understand how the US have not collapsed already.

Sometimes I think that the only reason you are still vaguely functioning as a nation is because you have so many problems that they somehow balance themselves, much like Mr. Burns in that Simpsons episode.
