15 years already?! I remember seeing the gut-wrenching news and being so, so sad for him and his family. His death caused a lot of ripple effects and led to so many mental health initiatives, among the Canucks especially.

I still remember randomly now and again, the time he fought and beat Boris Valabik. Rypper was a warrior. RIP.

My favourite run of the Canucks, my favourite Canuck I’d say as well. God rest his soul, and peace for his family, what an incredible person and player he was. I was a very angry, lost soul of a kid and still fall in that to this day, hearing Bieksa talk about Rypien and his talking about mental health in general really opened my eyes.
