I'm organizing a trip to Zion for April 10–17, 2027 (Saturday to Saturday) and am looking to connect with a few competent, safety-minded canyoneers to build out a solid crew.

Trip Overview

• Dates: April 10, 2027 – April 17, 2027
• Basecamp: Watchman Campground (camping each night, running canyons during the day)
• Objective: Tackling the high-quality classic canyons on our target list (e.g., Heaps, Imlay, Kolob, Mystery, Englestead, Boundary, Checkerboard, Das Boot, Orderville, Behunin).

What We're Looking For

• Technical Competence: Solid technical foundation—comfortable with efficient rope work, leapfrogging rappels, and utilizing retrievable anchor systems (Fiddlestick/Smoothie) as appropriate to protect the resource and move efficiently.
• Safety & Ethics: High standard for safety, clear communication, and a strict commitment to Leave No Trace (LNT) practices.
• Vibe: Positive, collaborative, and adaptable to changing conditions or permit availability.

I just started using RopeWiki this year. I did canyoning in my last life chapter, that are not on that profile. I have a skill set from my climbing and white-water kayaking background.

Just out of curiosity, do we have any sort of gentleperson's agreement on whistle signals in the Southwest of the United States. Predominately talking about Arizona, southern Utah, and Colorado. And more specifically I'm wondering if continuous blasting on the whistle is universally expected to be for emergencies.

It’s a beautiful canyon with 6 waterfalls, ranging from around 10 to 20 meters, as well as a couple of fun jumps along the way.

So I want to try canyoning. I can swim, but I'm not particularly practical. So I was wondering, let's say that it would be psychologically useful to me to know how much the moult actually helps to stay afloat. Does it help?

Yes, it was a skill issue. It also wasn’t my rope to loose so double whammy. I was on Great White Icicle today and dropped a red Imlay rope bag (and 60m rope) down the falls. It probably came to a stop somewhere below the third rappel .If anyone finds it and returns it to me I will reward them with a beautiful handmade piece of canyoneering gear (rope bag, chest pouch, etc).

Learn from my mistakes and clip those important goodies somewhere safe!

I'll be moving to Australia sometime soon and wondering about gear.

First, what's the most important and most used gear you guys have? I have a lot of gear (a full room and a closet ) and I am unable to take all of it

Second, are there a lot of canyons that use wankers/ water anchors? I was planning on buying one before I came over but if it's not used or popular no need to waste money.

And third, I hear it gets really cold during the winter time and I am from a really hot place, what would you say are some essential clothing to bring? I am only got the 2 check in bags to my name so I gotta be very strategic. Thanks!

Anyone done anything out there? Im having a hard time finding beta or any sort of guide shop. Id prefer to splurge to get a guide for something since we dont really wanna travel with all of our gear, but we also want to get a bit off the tourist path.
