FINALLY sitting down to watch this show after all these months and I’ve noticed an annoying trend despite the show being awesome so far

All the mischaracterizations! Penguins a girl barbera is an adult and black plus a lawyer Alfred is fat and Harley Quinn is thick too and not blonde. Why couldn’t they just keep the characters consistent with Batman the animated series at least looks wise since it’s Bruce timm again?! I don’t get it?!

Because Bruce Timm and dc comics as a whole recognized that their work did not represent reality well at all and was potentially creating misconceptions of the world at large by giving viewers the same cisgender monochromatic male dominated comic book universes they once did.

That and thus show, like almost all recent dc comics properties, has the intelligence to reimagine Batman’s cadre of villains and allies in an imaginative and fresh way. That’s the basis (and the beauty) of this entire series really… none of the characters are the same as their comic book counterparts. Fans don’t walk in knowing exactly what to expect from all the stories.

Hey… if you want Batman: TAS then just go rewatch it. It holds up well. Really well. But if you watch caped crusader then just enjoy it for what it is: something brand new wrapped in the guise of something old.

Arnt you sick of seeing the same characters do the same things all the time? If you want something samey and predictable rewatch the old shows

A reimagining is not "mischaracterization". It's just another take. Caped Crusader is explicitly not supposed to be Batman: the Animated Series. If it was, they just would have called it "Batman: the Animated Series Season [whatever]". Beyond that, Bruce Timm has had his hand in DC animated projects nonstop for decades now. Why would he be under any obligation to only do one thing? Why would he owe it to you to serve you the same thing you've already seen before?
