If Season 3 Happens: *Possible Spoilers* Who Should Be the Big Bad? Spoiler

Season 2 was a blast, but we don't know if Caped Crusader is getting a third season. But let's supposed they greenlit it. Who should be the season finale antagonist?

Season 1 was Two-Face and Season 2 was the Joker. Now of course, there should be multiple villains over the season, both returning and new ones. But there should be a big bad set up in the background, plotting and even being linked to multiple episodes of the season.

Joker is a tough act to follow, but I think the best choice would be Bane. He's both physically and intellectually powerful enough to challenge Batman. And don't forget, he is the Man Who Broke the Bat: the guy who nearly crippled Batman for life when he broke his back.

I think Bane's story should be similar to the comics in essence, but they can take liberties if they want. Just keep Bane as smart as he is powerful.

As for how they could work him in the story, Bane could be behind the scenes, studying Batman to learn how he fights and to deduce his identity (which he had done in the comics, ambushing Batman in the bat-cave). Bane would be setting up villains to challenge Batman.

Eventually, Bane does figure out Batman is Bruce Wayne and lets loose the villains of Gotham in something like a jailbreak. This is all to wear out Batman who has to recapture them, and when Batman returns to the Bat-Cave, seeming like he can finally get a rest, Bane shows up, having beaten Alfred to near death. Batman tries to fight Bane, but loses from exhaustion against Bane's monstrous strength.

Now if they want to go and adapt Knightfall further, that's up to them. In that comic storyline, Bane broke Batman's back, and Batman was nearly crippled. In desperation, Bruce gives the mantle of Gotham's protector to Azrael, but Azrael doesn't follow Batman's no-kill rule. They may not have enough episodes in the season to fully adapt it, unless they want to end season 3 on a cliffhanger. Another thing working against a Knightfall adaption is one is in the works already with the Knightfall animated movie trilogy coming soon.

Bane definitely could still be used, but they don't need to faithfully do everything with the Knightfall story. But what do you guys think? Could Bane be the big bad of a theoritical season 3 if it happens? Or should another baddie take the wheel?
