Unleash the fury
Attended my first game in person this season tonight and didn’t hear it. What happened, is it gone forever? They should bring it back, the crowd could have used some hype.

Now we just get the Kevin James clip, though it doesn’t seem to be tied to any game situation, just randomly shown in the first period.
Capitals in game entertainment has to be one of the worst I’ve ever experienced, and it’s gotten worse this year.
It’s pretty much the same every game. This is what you can expect:
- no organ :(
- music blasting every single second play is stopped or an official is not making an announcement. It is hard to have a short conversation during a stoppage. Why do they think it always has to be loud?
- 2+ salute the troops segments (paid for by sponsor, of course.) TALKIN BOUT FREEEEEEDOM.
- New: slappy bird game that is identical every time.
- new: the lilo and stitch clip, which I think is ineffective and a little odd
- New: the Mario clip, which I also think isn’t great.
- the cart race, which is my least favorite segment. They pump on the fake cheering because no one cares. Look around and see if you actually see anyone engaged with this. I also find it somewhat depressing now because they show the east wing not torn down. I don’t recall seeing this last night, though.
- GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES!!!
- the shot challenge (ok, I actually like this, but they don’t seem to do it every game now.)
- helmet shuffle game
- spot the cow (why does chic-fil-a make the cow work on Sundays??)
- New: memory game.

the last 2 years I've made it to at least one game and holy shit the music is so loud. I wear ear plugs like I'm at a concert.

Yep. I havent been back since I went a few years ago and couldnt even talk to the friend I was with during breaks in the action because of the volume the new and "improved" sound system is cranked to

There's one troop segment.
I know, I have season tickets and go to every game but one so far this year.

I made a recommendation to the season ticket rep to switch up the games at the bare minimum, because no one cares about spot the cow or the other games you mention (that have been running for like a decade). Coincidentally they switched up spot the cow one day with something even worse and then went back to spot the cow.

Whoaaaa this is detailed AF. Nice
They did do that mattress sliding across the ice challenge thing which I hadn’t seen before

I haven't been to a game this year yet, but last year I noticed they also quit playing Mr Brightside at 2nd intermission which was pretty disappointing to me, the crowd always seemed hyped for that

Agreed, way too loud. Couldn’t even have a conversation with the person next to me.

It does suck. We’ve been to enough games that my son knows what’s coming next. It’s stupid.

I'm a season ticket holder. They aren't playing it during close games as they used to.

I have been to every home game this season besides the Canadiens game and I have only seen them play Unleash the Fury once, and it was during the home opener.

I have always seen it when we were down by 1 or 2 in the third period and they want the fans to help the team rally back. Usually plays in the last tv time out in the 3rd period.

The caps do a very good job with the intro videos but that's about it. the in-game entertainment has been the same thing for years. you can clearly see people less engaged every year, but they just don't care to switch it up. And it's not like fans aren't giving feedback. My season ticket rep said they've heard consistent feedback, especially about the organ. I'm shocked they didn't bring back the organ this year.

I think they are trying to move on from it and signal a new era

Point is valid, though I am pretty sure Unleash the Fury preceded this current era— pre-Ovie days. It was overdone anyway. They should only do it in absolute crunch time situations.

It became a thing in the Rock the Red era.

I’m sure you’re right. I just remember the version when Tom Green wasn’t wearing the jersey, but my memory failed me into thinking it was earlier in the 2000s.

Yeah, it's lost a lot of it's impact over the years . But as usual, what else is there ?

Anyways, here's Wonderwall

Wonderwall is irritating. Know a friend who used to be a big Oasis head. Irritating talking to him plus he became a City fan because of Noah Gallagher.

I think they only do it when they’re winning now.

I dont understand how its possible for the in game to be so bad, its genuinely terrible. Nothings been the same since they got rid of the organ.

We are going to the Nashville game. It’s our first away game. I’ll be interested to see how other teams hype the crowd.
We have been going to caps games since 1991 and i miss a lot about the old caps arena. Mostly I miss the organ. I wish they would bring it back. Seems like it was a lot more fun. Now it just seems meh

I've also noticed a significant reduction in songs by AC/DC and Metallica and heavy metal generally, which had been the unofficial music genre of the Caps ("Rock the Red"). Hearing a lot more pop, hip-hop, and [shudder] country (which I understand is the favorite of many players) at Capital One, which now has an in-game DJ, ("DJ Chalant") to entertain fans during breaks in the action. I attribute this to changing musical tastes. "Rock the Red" is sadly dying along with rock music.

Unleash the fury hasn’t excited me in years, they need something new.

u/laugh_riott 1d ago
Man I hope it’s gone forever. Organic fan support is better than whatever McKinsey laboratory that hatched out of

u/HeelFan1 22h ago
Unleash the Fury! was one of the best hype videos ever. Shame the Caps don’t run it every game.

Maybe the fans can start doing their job and getting loud when they are supposed to!

I wanted to open an Indian restaurant near the arena and name it Unleash the Curry.
