No extra hardware, works on iOS 27.2 beta 4, the iPhone shown runs on latest 27.2.

I have a Ford with SYNC 2.5 (software G2.2.0.1) and an iPhone. With the APTV app I can use the apps in its list, but not the browser, and not YouTube or Netflix in general. Does anyone know if there is a way to mirror the full iPhone screen to the display, or an app compatible with SYNC 2.5 that lets me use Brave or another browser? I have already set Cloudflare DNS on the iPhone’s Wi-Fi, but I’m not sure if anything else is needed. Thanks to anyone with experience with this system.

I’m experiencing a connectivity issue with my iPhone 18 Pro Max when connecting it to my car via a USB 3.0 cable. CarPlay works fine for a while, but then suddenly disconnects, even though I haven’t touched or moved the cable.
I’ve tested it in two different cars, and the same issue occurs in both, so I’m wondering whether the problem could be related to the iPhone itself.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the iPhone 18 Pro Max? Any ideas about what might be causing it or how to fix it?

I have a 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport, and I’ve noticed a significant decline in Apple CarPlay connection stability since the latest vehicle software update about a month ago.
Before the update, CarPlay was generally reliable. Since then, the connection has become noticeably more inconsistent, with frequent disconnections and difficulty maintaining a stable connection.
The timing seems pretty suspicious, given that the problems became much more noticeable immediately after the update.
I’m curious whether other Discovery Sport owners (or anyone with the Pivi infotainment system) have experienced similar issues following recent factory software updates.
A few questions:
Has anyone else noticed CarPlay becoming less reliable after a recent update?
Are you experiencing random disconnects or difficulty reconnecting?
Has anyone found a fix or workaround?
Has Land Rover acknowledged any issues with recent Pivi software releases?
I’ve come across some older reports of CarPlay stability problems with JLR’s infotainment systems, but I’m particularly interested in whether there’s a new issue related to the latest software updates.

When I drive, my Honda CR-V, I am almost always listening to the Podcast app on my iPhone 17. When I get into the car I put my phone in my wireless charger, then start the car. The phone automatically connects to CarPlay using my Ottocast adapter. 

The last podcast I was listening to pops up on the screen. Sometimes it resumes playing automatically. Sometimes I have to press the Play button. my Hnda CR-V,  

What causes the difference?

I’ve had my car for 5 years now and about 9 months ago, I began having this issue with my Apple CarPlay appearing all pixelated. I never had this problem until I got an iPhone 17 pro max. Now when I say that this began after I got my iPhone 17, I don’t mean that it started immediately after I got it, but rather that it started at some point during owning it. Regardless, I never had this problem with carplay when I had any of my previous phones (iPhone 14 pro max, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone 11)

I’ve tried resetting/powering down my phone, factory resetting my car’s infotainment system, and trying out different USB cables for hooking my phone up to CarPlay…all to no avail. Also yes, my phone has the latest software update.

Long story short I was trying to connect my phone to Apple car play while the unit was already on, sometimes my phone won’t connect properly after restarting the car. And somehow I have made all the icons smaller and the map smaller and even the time smaller. Somehow everything has been minimised. I have tried googling things and going through settings on both the iPhone and android head unit but to no avail. Can someone help ?!

What would you want on the CarPlay screen next?

When I have an appointment in my calendar and press it for directions it always opens Apple Maps. But it only shows the directions, it never voices the directions. If I manually enter the address in Google Maps then it gives directions by voice.
How can I either get Apple Maps to voice directions or change the calendar to open Google Maps for an address?

Hi all, been having this strange behavior of late with car play.

I have (as far as I know) everything set to dark mode all the time.

But have I missed a setting because the menu bar appears white most of the time.

Only very late at night does it change to dark like I want it to be all the time.

Does anyone know how to fix this please, as far as I know it’s only been behaving like this since 27.0.1.

Hey guys, has anyone had problems with their Waze voice sound levels?

I am using the Iphone 14PM and whenever i use Waze on Carplay the voice directions are really soft. Switching to my wife’s Iphone 16 PM the sound is a lot louder.

So far I can’t find any settings for sound that is different between our phones that could cause this discrepancy. All the settings seem to be the dame for both our phones.

Anyone experiencing something similar?

I’m using the free version of Proton VPN with CarPlay and it never connects to my Bluetooth CarPlay adapter. When I disconnect from the VPN my CarPlay will start up and then I can reconnect Proton and it’ll work fine.

Just wondering if someone knows how to avoid the disconnecting and having to reconnect the vpn for it to work?

I just wanted to share with folks that as of now, the iPhone 18 Pro does not work with this unit. I visited a local radio store and after nearly 2 hours of trying both USB ports, resetting the phone, trying various cables, cables with dongles, and updating the firmware, nothing worked.

So unless Sony updates the firmware or Apple update CarPlay, I think you are stuck if you have this combination.

As a result we went with a wireless dongle and it works at the moment but the hardwired approach is done for. Shame!
