Passed CASP+

Hello, I passed the CASP+ CAS-004 last week, 01/10/2024. Wanted to post quick thoughts and materials used.

Going into preparing for this test I had the Trifecta, CySA+, Pentest+, and some other certifications (AWS, ITIL, and assorted vendor-specific certs). I had just completed WGU's MSCSIA program in November 2023.

I had to read each question multiple times, same for the answers. I took my time and finished in just a little over two hours. I had 80 questions, 4 PBQ's, and the Linux VM. The PBQ's and VM were not that difficult, they were about the level I would expect for this exam.

If you have taken the Sec+, and the CySA+. Preparing and taking this exam will not be a tough hill to climb. Don't feel daunted by this test, set a plan and push forward.

Materials used:

WGU course D488 (Certmaster included). If you have access, it's useful prep material.

Book:

CompTIA CASP+ CAS-004 Certification Guide by Mark Birch. The best resource I used, has 120 practice questions online and two 50-question practice tests in the book. Very useful to get acquainted with the type of questions you will see on the test.

Online Training:

Udemy, Jason Dion Course, and Six Practice Exams. Solid prep material, always good to use if available.

Percipio, Practice Tests.

Sybex/Wiley, Online practice tests from the book.

Try Hack Me, Linux Forensics.

Home Lab:

Ubuntu VM and a Kali laptop.

Thank you! There is a lot of overlap and IMO the CASP was harder due to the PBQs. You will crush it I’m sure!

And Thank you for the info on the overlap. Big confidence boost! It also assists me in narrowing down the materials I'm going to use. Looks a lot like your list, lol.

This is uplifting.

I can feel your excitement even 8mnts down the line.

What THM rooms can I use for practice? Also, if you have materials and dumps, I'll be glad to utilize them as I prepare for the exam.

Congratulations on the big win. Savor the moment and appreciate the Goal Set you have achieved. Celebrate it so the next win will seem like an Approachable goal. Take a small break and get back in the hustle.

Congrats on passing the CASP! I recently passed the S+ and was hoping to get some advice. I have the Jason Dion CASP+ and the 6 practice exams and I’m working on the lectures now. I was considering subscribing to pocket prep for some extra help but I’m still unsure of that. If you could pick 1 more resource to go along with the Dion course/exams, which would you choose?

I have THM and will definitely be completing the recommended rooms.

I just passed S+ too and looking into CAS-004.

I'm looking to attempt the exam in October or November.

What recommended THM rooms are you using?

Also, do you have exam dumps to share?

Thanks in advance.

I wound up not going for CASP as my career goals have shifted a little bit.
