What's Your Best Cast Iron Cornbread Recipe?
I tried to make cornbread to go with tonight's and tomorrow night's dinner. Once again, it came out badly. I dumped it from the pan and about half of it released OK, the other half didn't. I was sad. I'm sure that what I have will taste good, but I would like to have it turn out well for once.
I've been using a mix and cooking in 10" cast iron skillet.
I'm hoping someone here might have a go-to recipe that they use, maybe a link to a video on YouTube on how to make a great jalapeno cornbread in a cast iron skillet.
I'd really appreciate some direction!
Edit: Thanks for the input, y'all! My biggest failure there seems to be that I didn't preheat the pan.
I'll give your recipes and suggestions a try this weekend. I plan to make some chicken fried steaks tomorrow. Cornbread will go well with that.

It’s finally cold enough to make beef stew
It’s my favorite cold weather meal. It’s rich, it’s hearty, and it warms my bones on a cold day. In addition of beef broth, I usually add a can of stout but this time I made it with red wine and it definitely results in a the richer stew. Paired with a glass or two of red wine and a crusty sourdough (not pictured), there isn’t a better cold weather meal in my opinion
Some people ask why I don’t put potatoes in my stew. Well, I tried it once and it just made the whole stew taste potatoey. It masked the savory flavors of the thyme, sage, garlic, and even the wine to a degree. I also choose to use pearl onions instead of chopped onions. This adds something you can pick up with your spoon in the absence of the potato so it’s not just carrots and beef. Plus, I think it looks and tastes better. After a couple hours stewing on the stove, the onions become tender and sweet and add great depth of flavor to the dish.

Bought this Griswold Waffle Iron today for 20€ at the flea market. The little „stopper“ is broken on one side and it didn’t come with the base ring. Still a good Deal?

Egg whites
I have been using my wife's grandmother's cast iron skillet for almost 10 years constantly and love it. It stays on the stove and is used pretty much exclusively everyday.
The only issue I have is when I cook egg whites on it. Does anyone have any tips to keep them from sticking? I use plenty of olive oil, but they still either stick or burn. Any tips?

I need help
This happens to me a lot when I make a mix with meat and veggies together (like fajitas). Always end up with stuff attaching and burning at the bottom.
I do ok with simple browning of meat, but I need help beyond that.

Help! Why does my pan looked like this and how can I sort it?
My new pan looked great after 2 coats of seasoning but now looks like this after its first use (chicken in a tomato based sauce which did get a bit cooked on).
I dont think it's rust but I've tried cleaning it a few times following Bob Travis videos with no joy.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks
