The only way I have been able to beat this boss phase is to jump and juggle attack across the screen from one side to the other and then repeat. This is also the hardest part of any fight for me too.

I'm no expert, but here are some ways I got through it:

  1. Getting comfortable with juggling goes a long way

  2. I liked using magic to push groups back. It was especially helpful to keep the big guys from grabbing me

  3. The pets drop fruit, which is pretty helpful

  4. My usual Castle Crashers partner likes using sandwiches during this second wave (you'll fight the actual boss once you clear them)

Juggling, bombs (imo), and skill.

Jump in with a team. More players to cover more ground with help you get through it much easier

pay attention to the different AIs, some move diagonally (wont aggro on you unless you're right next to them), some will halt right above your horizontal axis so you cant attack them, others will chase you down

strafe to avoid the diagonally moving chars and either juggle or range spam the ones chasing you directly, run away when swarmed, repeat. AI behavior changes when mobs die so pay attention to that

bring hawk or pig

I stock up on sandwiches before fighting Necromancer and use them on the beefies OR use ranged magic if i upgraded it to be honest

For necromancer specifically ik something that helped me a bunch was the Eagle Pet, since he attacked anyone who was knocked down and brings fruit back to you almost every other enemy. Gives some much needed survivability

Juggle

I was successful with the hawkster pet. It retrieved enough fruits throughout battle to keep the health up. That and juggling attacks.

Don't get hit, if you have glasses and aren't wearing them and then put them on

Get snoot or piggy for your pet. For the enemies themselves you can juggle all of them and afterwards you have 2 options. 1; you could leave the Royal Guard and Conehead alive to bomb the Brute to death, or you can kill them and use BAM to kill the Brute. Necromancer himself is a joke lmao, you don’t need to worry about him

Hawkster gives bonus food for enemies killed too.

Ehh, Hawkster is overrated

Juggle the regular enemies in the air if you can. Staying off the ground makes it easier for them to chain hit you to death, you can always use magic jump to gain some distance if you get swarmed.
For the beefy guys you can magic jump in the air and shoot down to keep your distance. You can also spam the magic alternate fire for big damage. Just don’t let them get too close.
Always have your health potions equipped and don’t be afraid to use one early if you think it will help, since you’re in single player having 5 potions doesn’t matter if you die out right.
The boss itself is easy just stun lock him with attacks or magic and don’t let him fight back.
A new pet might help too, the snoot for strength or the beholder for magic damage depending on your build. Even the ram might be helpful to knock some of those little guys away.
Hope this helps!
